Best Dog Friendly Vacations – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down on the calendar and plan more trips for next year. It’s cold and dark outside and it’s so satisfying to curl up with a laptop and plan some events.
Although we’ve taken a break from our major international travels during this pandemic, we’re still enjoying getting to know the Seattle area and our weekend getaways. After ten years away from New York and Chicago, it was great to come back and find old favorites as well as all the new glampsites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have come here. Most of all, I loved seeing how many of them include dog-friendly options for your stay. I would be very happy if I could come with Dave and Lizzie on our holidays.

Those fire pits on the Coho Oceanfront really stole my heart. Although this Oregon Coast resort is a short drive from Seattle, the beautiful interior and panoramic views of the Pacific make it worth the drive. Dogs under 25 pounds are welcome in select rooms – more details here.
My New Year’s Resolution is St. Edward as soon as possible – it will be easy as it is a half hour drive outside the city. This historic seminary is a restored luxury resort located on 326 acres of trails directly on Lake Washington. We spent a wonderful week at the Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – wrote about it here – and the memories carried me through the first few months of the shutdown. These 570-square-foot architectural units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. It’s also an ideal base camp for Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hiking. I’ve been dreaming of getting on one of the Insta-famous A-frames for a long time, and I decided to do it this year. Tye River Cabin Company offers three different stunning A-frame cabins located in the Mt. National Forest. Baker-Snoqualmie, and all three are pet-friendly. However, words for those who are wise to get a post can be difficult to get thousands of likes for each of their amazing Instagram posts. Pet details are listed below each room.
In 2019 we spent a wonderful Easter weekend in Seminyak and I was looking for an opportunity to return to its beautiful views and remote beach that Lizzie loves to explore. Just steps from the Canadian border, this resort has a beautiful campground and sweeping views of Washington’s North Shore. They are very dog friendly and welcome puppies with their own bowls and beds (at least during our visit) and a souvenir. Information about the dog here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite trips from the city. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to this charming beach town with quaint shops, funky cafes, and water views. I love a unique vacation and Rolling Huts of Winthrop offers just that. These tiny homes were designed by Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects in a modern camping style. Well, it’s not technically available yet, but we’ve already signed up for alerts for another edition of these awesome RVs in Olympic National Park. This beautiful beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific coast is everything I want in a vacation – a great city with great shopping and restaurants, plenty of shopping, and a clean sandy beach. Granted, Idaho is a short drive from Seattle, but we could drive anywhere to stay in this spiritual place. Plus, little touches like the on-site sauna and vintage coffee grinder melt my heart. Pets are allowed, but apart from the door, you may have to judge whether or not this is a good vacation for you.
