The UK’s most popular dog-friendly beaches have been revealed, with new data from online reviews used to find Britain’s favourites.

With spring weather promising summer, and April also being National Pet Month, it’s a great time to get out and about with a four-legged friend.
Dog-friendly Days Out
First place went to Durdle Door beach in Dorset, with a dog score of 8.85 out of 10. Described as “the perfect escape for dogs and their owners, the famous limestone arch is a dreamy backdrop for hunting.” The score is based on more than 4,298 reviews of beaches in the West of England.
Elsewhere on the Dorset coast, Man O’War Beach, came second after scoring 8.3. Also known as Durdle’s East Door, it’s a shingle beach with calm waters protected from swells – meaning an opportunity to splash around with your dog.
It is linked to the one lost on the coast of Wales, Tatu Cliffs Bay in Glamorgan, the first sandy beach on the list. Here the sea has dunes with many places to wander.
Next in fourth place, with 8.2 out of 10, is Traeth Marloes in Pembrokeshire. A stretch of golden beach with a dramatic rocky backdrop, it’s a “great photo opportunity with your dog,” the report says.

Rounding out the top five is Cuckmere Haven Beach in East Sussex, with 8.06. A quiet pebbly spot is next to the white chalk cliffs of Blaendulais.
Devon was home to the highest number of dog-friendly beaches on the list, ranking 22 out of 148.
The research came from Showers to You, which analyzed Google ratings and reviews of 148 dog-free beaches to find the most popular spots. However, beaches that did not have Google Maps ratings and reviews were not included in the study. A weighted average was calculated to obtain a weighted total score, before calculating a standardized index score.
