Best Dog Friendly Furniture – All dogs are perfect, but they don’t sit well. They run, they climb on equipment, and in the case of an American bulldog named Gus, they bend and don’t stop. However, as a proud bulldog parent, I know the joys are few and far between coming home to 60lbs who want to jump up and pounce on me when I walk through the door. Yes, I am a dog. My dog ββlet me jump up, lay on the bed, and sleep in our bed while she covered me in her little body. But I think the dogs in the house are causing problems, they are attracted.
As I know, decorating a dog house takes a lot of thought and the residents are our best tools. So I did what anyone could. I asked my boss to ask the real experts how you keep your home cozy and clean. Now that I’ve collected the results, I can’t wait to share all the tips. We talk about good and bad clothes, the best cleaning products, easy hacks and more. Let’s find out:

Live: I know there is “no dog in the closet”. These people deserve recognition and will probably post in the comments section (please do, I’ll give you all the tips on how to go about it). It takes something smarter than the rest of us. I was recently in the market for a new bed and since my life revolves around my dog, I had to ask what was recommended for a dog (especially one that sheds a TON). To me, skin is a top priority for dog owners, and it’s no wonder. The skin is easy to clean and hair does not stick to it. Of course, real leather will be fine, but soft leather is easy to clean – it’s not durable.

Tight knit: If you don’t care about your skin and want something more comfortable, fear not. There are fabrics that are very durable and stain resistant. My research says that the higher the texture, the better (chenille and grass houndstooth – textured fabrics will hide hair – but be careful if your dog is a miner, the claws can be damaged). Also, synthetic fabrics like microfiber are high on the pet (and baby) list because they can be cleaned regularly with carpet cleaners and pet hair can be easily removed with a roller and vacuum. If you’re looking for a knit fabric, you’ll probably want to match the dog’s coat as closely as possible, unless you want to see hair everywhere. I mean it

Velvet: Half of you are principled, and the other half would call me emotionally insane. We wrote a post about this last year and found that synthetic fibers are great for dogs and children because they hold up well, are easy to clean and prevent shedding. So, if you’re in the market for velvet accessories, go for synthetic or prime performance for best results.

Cowhide: I have a white cowhide rug that, even between spilled wine and my dog’s occasional barking, is somehow spotless. I’m not exaggerating when I say cleaning is the easiest thing I’ve ever had (and I hate cleaning). If you have a quick accident, a cloth and water will remove the stain, but for other stubborn stains, a washcloth works like magic. In my experience, even a cowhide is easy to clean because the skin is spread out enough to come off the skin, and you can go back and not worry about damaging it. Emily also swears by cowhide rugs for babies and stuffed animals.
Vintage Persian Rugs: If you own a Persian rug, you know they can take a beating, but the best part is that their age and wear is one of their best features. It causes accidents and is a bit of a scratch problem and if it gets dirty, the hard surface does a great job of covering it up. We know its capital, but Emily and Sarah are patient with Persian paint, and even though they are cat owners, I believe in their work. π
Rugged rugs are what got people talking. Gone are the days of kneeling and peeing. Car washing is the future, my friends, and I’m happy to report that we’ve received tons of DMs praising the Ruggable. We are done here.

Now, for the cleaning part, it’s called a big mountain for dog owners to climb. It’s safe to say that regular cleaning products won’t do it for a dog house. We need heavy duty, specially formulated products to: 1. clean hair and 2. remove pet odors. Here are the basic steps:
Chom Chom Roller: EHD Alum Emily Bowser recommended the Chom Chom Roller for a while and it has been a popular product in the office ever since. Cat and dog owners alike believe it’s the only cleaner that removes 100% of pet hair from clothing.
German Air Protection: It’s amazing how bad the air can be when a dog enters your home and life. The amount of dust and dirt collected is unlike anything I have ever seen or experienced. Air purifiers are important for cleaning your hair and keeping the air in your home clean and breathable.
Roomba vacuum: I don’t know if robots will be doing all our jobs in the near future, but I’m glad that robots are replacing the vacuum. Grooming is a daily chore in the dog family, so Rumba is grateful to take one item off our to-do list.

Dyson Cordless Pet: Of all the products we reviewed, the Dyson Pet Vacuum was the most enthusiastic. It’s non-stick and designed to hold pet hair, so even the toughest needle-like hairs will be fine.
Folks: If accidents happen often, this will keep your carpet clean and completely eliminate odors so your dog doesn’t mark his territory.
Natural wonder: Dogs can smell bad. Can we talk about it? It’s embarrassing to say this because it implies that our homes smell too, but that’s not true. Enter a natural wonder that removes pet odor like no other.
1. Cover the furniture. Slipcovers work too, but blankets can add flair and don’t always have to be. If you have a large blanket, you can throw it over the furniture, and if there is an accident or it gets too dirty, you can switch to another one. I do this on the couch and bed so when it’s time for people to relax, it’s as easy as pulling out a dog blanket.

2. Take a throw blanket everywhere. If you want to keep your baby off the furniture, plan a throw or two on the carpet so he’ll sleep there. One of you suggested taking a large IKEA sheepskin and cutting it into small pieces and then placing them around the house. I just want to say that I love this idea and will keep it.
3. Put the trash inside. I know experienced dog parents know this, but it’s worth pointing out. Even if your dog is fine, covered litter boxes are non-negotiable. No one wants to come home with a pizza box from last night’s broken carpet. If your little “angel” is unwell, put the litter in the trash as much as possible. We’ve all seen what dogs can do when they’re on their mind, so it’s best to keep the scent as low as possible to avoid temptation.
4. Create a cleaning station. Most of us don’t have mud, so take the dog for a walk in the rain.
