When you live somewhere with winter weather for half the year, you learn to embrace each season. Snow, snow, winter? Stock up (here’s our shoe and sweater racks) and take the pup out. To prove he’s a big brave dog and not afraid of the white fluff, Noah brings his mom, aunt, and puppy to the East Bay Suites in Grand Marais for a dog-friendly winter vacation. Feel for dragging, biting and points in this area.

Dog Friendly Lodging In Grand Marais Mn

Noah’s room was on the first floor and had patio doors leading to the beach. This made potty rides incredibly easy and enjoyable. The suite includes a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal or bake dog biscuits.

Noah rattled off his gift basket, which contained a dog bowl, treats, treats, and potty bags. Pro tip: It can get dark around the hotel, so a flashlight or headlamp is useful for night walks.

COVID Issues: East Bay Suites provides a checklist to request towels, toiletries, linens, etc. to leave in a basket in the hallway. They will leave a bag with everything you need outside the room for contactless delivery. Patio doors allow guests to come and go without walking past other people, perfect for social distancing!

A pup headed north needs to stop every now and then to stretch his legs, wag his tail, sniff his ass, and enjoy the scenery. Split Rock Lighthouse is located about an hour south of Grand Marais. Walk to the lake for scenic views of the rock and lighthouse, or take a short trail around the lighthouse. 14/10. very nice

Another great stop on the way for a potty break. Noah and his friends. Hike to Caribou Falls overlooking Lake Superior and the Caribou River Gorge. Noah was hoping to see a moose (and no luck), but instead he found a particularly attractive squirrel. His idea? You have to chase waterfalls and squirrels on purpose.

Harbor Park was full of sticks and sticks are life (to Noah). His little because Fitz didn’t like walking on rocks at the beach, but they didn’t slow Noah down. Just a tip for small potatoes. Weird and beautiful and it sticks. Two feet tall.

East Bay Suites offers free snowshoe rentals and Noah enjoyed hiking with Julian on the Gunflint Trail to George Washington Pines. The route is rated as easy, just over 2 miles. A few steps or snowshoes will find you completely surrounded by the forest. Fitch caught a cold and had to cough. Again, good for the big boys.

This restaurant is located a block away from the East Bay Suites and has a drive-thru window. Noah agreed. Za was excellent (but Noah would be better served with 7.5 crusts).

Dog moms need their caffeine, amirite? Noah tied up his men and led them to the Java Moose. I had to wait outside on the deck while they ordered, but that was fine. He looks cute and gets scratched wherever he sits.

Gun Flint Tavern offers in-person and online ordering, as well as dog-friendly heated sidewalk seating. The man approved of the dinner. No M!

Dogs are welcome and friendly – not only allowed there, but encouraged. Noah and Fitz picked out some souvenirs, including a hedgehog that Noah carried to the store and returned to the hotel. Noah rates this place as mutts-sniff.

Noah attracted people when he saw the Sidewalk Dog sticker in the window of this store. Did not disappoint; Dog biscuits were readily available at checkout. Oh, and people enjoyed the super soft t-shirts.
