This list of dog-friendly Central Coast cafes will make it even easier for you to enjoy a hassle-free day out with your best friend!
Dog Friendly Hampshire
Strickland State Forest is a great place to start the fun and spend time in nature with your furry little friend. It’s as pet-friendly as you can get on the boardwalk, with endless walking paths that are easy to navigate via signs, stops and letting your dog sniff around. There are also plenty of designated areas to park when it’s time to rest and refuel (don’t forget to bring dog treats!).
This managed forest is a great place for your pup to play among the tall trees and rub himself, but be aware that it is also a great place for ticks, so check the season you visit and make sure the forest is tick-proof . . fleas.
The forest is a treasured ecotourism gem on the Central Coast and one of the oldest arboretums in the region. Wherever you step, wherever you look, this is the place to admire nature. There is a stunning diversity of flora and fauna to greet you at every turn, from wildflowers and heather forests to towering eucalyptus trees forming bridges and lush rainforests.
This dog-friendly site is managed by the Forestry Corporation, which provides detailed maps of the area. Strickland State Forest is a fenced, day-use only site, open from dawn to dusk.

At the north end of the beach, Budgewoi Beach, Lakes Beach, The Entry North and North Shelly Beach have long, unspoilt shorelines for your dog to run off-leash. Just follow the signs to enter the dog-friendly beach.

Ettalong Beach is another great spot further south if you’re a little further inland and traveling to the Woy Woy area. Ettalong Beach has a long sandy shoreline and the water is more like a sheltered cove, so your pets can relax and play, with water stations along the way.
Dog-friendly Beaches And Areas
The Central Coast is fortunate to have many beautiful trails that dogs love to sniff. The Tuggerah Lakes Cycle Trail is a 12km trail that circles Tuggerah Lakes from Chittaway to The Entrance before heading north over the entry bridge into Magenta. You can also go to The North Entrance beach nearby, which has a dog-friendly section.
Don’t miss out on a walk at Gosford Waterfront, a stunning location to enjoy views of Brisbane’s National Water Park, exploring the route from Point Frederick along the scenic coastal path through Gosford. Eat Street Cafe is located on the footpath so you can easily stop for coffee or a bite to eat. Continue past Leagues Club Park and Central Coast Stadium, crossing the Brian McGowan Bridge and entering Adcock Memorial Park. Here, in this safe and open area, you will find an off-leash dog area next to bike trails and salt flats.
At the southern end of the beach, enjoy tranquil views of Broken Bay as you walk your dog along the shared path, The Esplanade, between Ettalong Beach, Ocean Beach and Umina Beach, or stroll along the canals and wetlands on the trail together between neighbourhoods. from Kincumber and Saratoga.
Central Coast Council offers a comprehensive list of dog parks and off-leash areas across the region. These include some of the premier dog parks located at Tuggerah Dog Park, Buff Point (Buff Point Oval) and Davistown (Illoura Reserve) allowing your furry friends to enjoy off-leash fun in the sun in the open air, some even with agility obstacles!

Even though dogs are allowed on designated beaches and on leash reserves, as the owner you are still responsible if the dog attacks people or other animals or causes a nuisance to people on the beach. For the safety of your dog and others, dogs must be leashed and under the control of a competent person when in public places.
Seeing (or smelling) dog poop on the street, on the trail, in the park, or on the beach is unpleasant and also has a negative impact on local wildlife. Dog waste can also enter stormwater systems when it rains, further polluting waterways. Remember that your dog’s hat is on you.

The Central Coast’s dog-friendly secret gem is the stunning bright blue beach at the end of the Forries, accessed from Henry Street, south of the Crystal Street beach access. Dogs are not permitted access south of Crystal Street beach.
For a fun salty dip, Wamberal offers one of the best dog walking spots on the coast. This offshore section extends from the access point via Surfer Street, Wamberal, to the north of Terrigal Lagoon, after which it becomes a mooring area for Painter’s Lane in Terrigal. With free parking and a dog meter, you can relax in comfort while watching the dogs choose between the lagoon or the waves to swim in. Afterwards, you might want to visit Lagune Artisan for some delicious Coastie-approved coffee and focaccia.
Dog Friendly Beaches In Orange County
Probably the most popular dog beach on the Central Coast. At any time of the day or night, the beaches stretching from Copacabana to Macmasters Beach are always full of dogs. The north end of the beach is not dog friendly; however, the best place to park is near Copa Lagoon.
If your pup is a social butterfly who likes going for walks and more involving meeting friends, then Terrigal Haven is the place for you. The dog social capital of the coast, a large grassy area with views of the sea and Skillion, is completely free of strays and almost always full of furry friends to play with. For a swim, head to the small beach below, although note that Terrigal Beach, which is nearby, doesn’t allow dogs.
You’ll find fairly easy access to the beach and parking here, with Shelly Beach North suitable for small children and fur babies. This part of the beach is open, but if you want to walk along the beach to Toowoon Bay, pups will have to go back to the first place.
Peninsula dogs have many options to choose from. Ettalong Beach is dog friendly and many of our four legged friends love it! This beach is marked with regulations, so be sure to check them out. But south past Bangalow Road towards Umina, dogs are allowed, with a completely off-leash section at the bottom. It’s especially fun for dogs who love water because the sea here is quite calm. Having coffee at Lords of Pour or Kios Innerglow is always a great stop!
