However, most Australian caravan parks do not allow dogs in cabins, although they do allow them onto their pitches. This makes it difficult if you don’t have your own caravan or camper, or even a tent.

If you’d like to stay in a chalet with your dog in NSW, I’ve compiled a list of some great pet-friendly chalets. Most are located in trailer parks, while some cabins are just parking lots. While it’s not perfect, I hope this gives you some ideas on where to go with your cat on your next vacation!

There aren’t many caravan parks near Sydney that allow pets, so it’s no surprise that there aren’t many pet-friendly chalets near Sydney. Discover the options available within a two-hour drive of Sydney.

It’s just a two hour drive south of Sydney from Geringong, just south of Kiwama. A great dog friendly caravan park is Weary Beach Hold Park. In addition to allowing pets on site, the trailer park also features three two-bedroom pet-friendly cabins.

To book a cabin with dog, direct booking is required. Please note that dogs are only permitted in the park outside of school holidays and NSW public holidays.

Calypso Holiday Park Yamba

One of the best things about staying at Weary Beach Hold Park with your dog is that you are right across from Weary Beach, which has an off-leash area. There’s also an off-leash headland park and the dog-friendly Keoma Coast Walk nearby.

Recently, part of the Kiama Coast Holiday Park operated by Kiama Council has started allowing pets in some of the other cabins. At Surf Beach Holiday Park, some 2-bedroom cabins allow pets for an additional $25 per night.

The park is a short walk from Kiyama Center and the famous Blue Hole. Note, however, that the nearby beach does not allow dogs on the sand, although nearby KaleulaReserve has an off-leash dog exercise area.

You must make your reservation directly by calling or emailing the park. As with Verrie Beach Holiday Park, pets are only permitted outside of high season.

If you want to head north from Sydney, a great dog-friendly caravan park between the Central Coast and Newcastle is Blacksmiths Beachside Holiday Park. I’ve camped in the park before in an RV, but there are also two dog-friendly cabins.

Both pet-friendly cabins feature doggy doors that lead to enclosed patios and provide dog beds and water bowls. It’s best to call before booking to check the rules as some dog breeds are prohibited. However, there are no restrictions on peak times.

The park is a short walk (or a long walk) from the patrolled Blacksmiths Beach and a short drive (or a long walk) from the dog-friendly beach on the northern edge of town. There is a dog washing facility on site.

Pokolbin is just over two hours from central Sydney, traffic-wise, but still close enough for a quick weekend getaway with your dog. If you’re looking for pet-friendly chalets in the Hunter Valley, head to Hunter Valley by Ingenia Holidays.

The twin towns of Forster-Tuncurry are a fun destination to visit with your dog. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches and cafes, as well as plenty of pet-friendly cabanas to keep your dog by your side.

One caravan park that offers pet-friendly cabins is Lani’s Holiday Island, located on the lakefront in Forster. Often recommended by dog ​​owners, pets are allowed in select cabins. Choose from pet-friendly lodges, villas and cabins, each of which can accommodate up to four or five human guests. Double check that fabric is provided.

Another great dog-friendly caravan park in Forster-Tuncurry is Discovery Park-Forster, located at Darawank on the river north of the town. Dogs are welcome in the park year-round, both in designated areas and in select cabins.

Dog-friendly cabins are clearly listed on their website – just look for the “Dogs OK” logo. Even the deluxe riverfront cabins are pet friendly! Please note that additional fees apply and generally only one dog is allowed per booking, but double check with management if you have two dogs.

The park also offers many additional amenities for dogs (though families will also appreciate the fun-style pool and recently opened water park). There is a shaded dog park, self-service dog bathing and drying facilities (for a fee), and every Sunday at 8am there is the Discovery Barks Walk.

Further north, Diamond Water Caravan Park is located 40 minutes south of Port Macquarie, on the Camden Haven River near Loreton. It’s a beautiful place surrounded by bushland and welcomes dogs all year round, although there are no cats present to protect the local wildlife.

A very popular caravan park with pet owners is Reflections Holiday Parks Moonee Beach, just north of Coffs Harbour. Dogs are allowed year-round at this trailer park, both on site and in select cabins.

Dog-friendly cabin options include Premium Cabins for four, Premium Cabins for five and Budget Cabins for six, plus the all-new Tiny Houses, perfect for couples with young children. Dog-friendly options are clearly listed.

The park near Moonee Beach is dog-friendly, even off-leash, with a dog wash on site. There are plenty of things to do around Coffs Harbor with your dog if you’re staying for a while.

Yamba Caravan Parks And Things To Do

Just down the road from Coffs Harbor and Mooney Beach is Woolgoolga, home to the Woolgoolga Lakeside Hold Park. Pets are welcome in the park for most of the year, with the exception of December 20th and January 14th, the Easter long weekend.

In addition to pet-friendly spaces, pets are welcome in three types of cabins: Waterfront Villas (those designated pet-friendly only), as well as Old Banksia Cabins and Lake Overlooking Cabins. Each cabin can accommodate five people.

Dogs are allowed on nearby beaches – try the remains of the Buster Shipwreck (see my Coffs Harbor guide), along with off-leash ones at Woolgoolga Back Beach outside the Little Tern breeding season. Plus there’s a new dog washing service!
