Large carp have attracted anglers to our lakes for many years with carp weighing up to 30 pounds on sample size. The Cofton carp is a fascinating animal that comes in many different shapes and sizes. Varieties include glass carp, common carp, and even the common crucian carp, which is a delight for our anglers.

This year we have stocked new fish to supplement the existing population, and when the cod is over 30 years old, there are many large fish. These are many people’s target fish, but that’s not the whole story. Our ponds are designed to suit all levels of anglers, and each pond has a different challenge.

All parties need a valid fishing ticket and must have an Environmental Protection Agency fishing license. Daily or weekly tickets are available, starting at 2:00 p.m. One ticket is required per person, and there are two ropes. We offer discounts for seniors, carers and under 12s, and adults are charged.

Fishing With Your Dog: Tips And Risks — Sportsman’s Pride
This amazing place is easy to find and easy to access. I stayed at Oakley, spotlessly clean, and everywhere was spotless. We have 57 pegs in four lakes. They present a variety of fish that compete but are rewarded in equal measures. We have recently restored all our lakes to make them even more attractive. Our mammhead are getting sizeable carp, bream and spawn, and Powderham Pond has a good supply of rubber right now, so we shouldn’t be disappointed.
Momhead Tournament Lake is rich and, as the name suggests, designed for sport and game fishing. There are 26 well-organized platforms divided into 3 islands and a small channel.
Carp is a staple food with hundreds of fish. They range in size from 3 pounds to 15 pounds or more. The average size today is 6 pounds. The lake has been stocked for the last 4 years with fish, shrimp and prawns.
In November 2021, 120 carp weighing 1 to 2 pounds were kept, followed by 102 carp averaging 8.5 pounds. There is a big head with 4~5 pounds of common fish. These lakes weigh 3 pounds or more and produce quality walleyes of 1 pound or more. There are also some gorse and leopards in the lake.

The lake hosts weekly games every Thursday from 10:00am to 3:00pm from April 1st to September 30th. Those interested can call the florist to register. The lake also hosts two of our Cofton Trophy Fishing Festivals.
The Powderham Tench Pond is designed for anglers who enjoy fishing in addition to carp, as well as anglers who want to set nets. This pool is the only one outside the area where netting is allowed (5 hours maximum), and sport fishermen can set their nets.
It is a small swimming pool, close to 9 swimming platforms. Reed borders and water lilies add character to this charming pool. The depth varies, so a water line has to be built, in some places 8 feet deep.
The pond has good bass of 4lb or more and crucian carp of 1lb. Crayfish topped 5lbs, golden bells nearly 2lbs, flounder over 1.5lbs, perch over 3lbs, bream and the occasional small messy carp. This pond has a maximum line breaking pressure of 6 pounds and is not suitable for heavy carp.

During the school holidays, on Mondays and Wednesdays, the pool is tested under the guidance of our qualified fishing guides. These sessions can be booked online or at reception.
Carp are the main species at Ascombe Carp Pool, with fish ranging from 1lb to 20lb or more. There are 9 swimming platforms and many fishing features. The pond has abundant plantations of banana, celery and lotus, making it an excellent fishing spot.
There are glass, common, leather and ghost carp available, sample sizes. There are many ghosts, some of them superior to the two that live in the pool, and they can often be seen swimming in hot weather. Although there are now many small fish, there are still more than 40 wells in this group, from two to 20. There are flounder of 5 pounds or more and lots of silverfish. Specimens of perch weighing 3 pounds or more have also been reported recently by Roach and Rudd in excess of a pound.
New in 2022, 2 back pools have been combined to create a campground. The new sample lake provides more room for carp to roam and hopefully continue to grow. They are widely planted, with reedy banks of lakes, water lilies and an island with its own weeping willow.

There are 14 purpose-built gravel showers including double baths. The lake has good glass until 29.10, 25.04 and ghost carp until 20.08. 20 lb. specimen with good head.
