Dog Friendly Forest Holidays

Dog Friendly Forest Holidays – At Forest Holidays we understand that your dog is part of your family, so why would you leave them behind? The good news is, of course, that forests and dogs were made for each other. There are leaves to play with, creatures to sniff out, and miles and miles of forest trails to explore. If ever there was a dog walking holiday, this is it.

Away from the madding crowds, our dog-friendly cottages in Deerpark, Cornwall are beautifully situated deep in the woods. Most of them are on the edge of an old mill pond; others are located in the valley among tall pines offering spectacular views and all have space for baskets and dog toys. The surrounding forests are home to rare plant species and abundant wildlife, including, of course, deer. Away from the tranquility of this place, you can reach the Cornish coast in less than 15 minutes, exploring, among other things, the picturesque fishing villages of Looe and Polperro.

Other places require you to shake your dog if you go out without them, which is fine if they are crate trained, but not if they are afraid of crates! Some dog friendly places only allow one dog, only allow small dogs, only allow certain breeds – yes, I had to specify my dog’s breed and weight when I asked about reserving some places. Forest holidays are different. You can go out without your dog, no crate required! They don’t care about race or weight! The cabins are far apart, so if there is a barking, it is likely that no one else will be disturbed. They also allow up to 4 dogs per pet friendly cabin! They charge one dog per night, which I think is expensive, but worrying about the big dog Ts and Cs elsewhere makes it worth the extra money. Plus, they have dog activities, poop bins, and lots of great walks on their doorstep and nearby, especially in the Sherwood area but elsewhere too. Dogs are even allowed in the shop/reception on site! We have already booked our next trip with Forest Holidays for 2021 as their cottages are perfect for a socially distanced holiday. “We have been going to this Center Parcs with our children for years, since they were very young (2003). The last time was in 2019, so it was good to be back. They are all grown up now, but they chose (asked) to come with us when we said we could! We stayed here for a weekend and brought our two small dogs for the first time. I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised – it was so well cleaned, no sign of guests with dogs staying here, very spacious with private bathrooms and a sauna! It was 27 degrees outside! We had brought a fan (for the dogs!) but didn’t need to use it – the trees provided welcome shade and kept things at a nice, pleasant temperature. trees right from the patio so we could safely take the boys for a walk in the hot weather (it was very cool and in the shade). We also got to eat inside at the Foresters Inn with the dogs, but opted to eat outside as the weather was lovely. Beautiful under the trees, where there was also a pleasant breeze. We ate out at the Pancake House (everyone should go here) and the Sports Bar, the staff were super friendly and gave our dogs water along with the drinks us.
