However, as it is an important part of public recreation, the park has the right to prohibit pets. As a rule, animals must be on a leash no longer than 2 meters (about 6.5 feet), even in areas where pets are allowed, and are not allowed in most areas or beaches.

Tourists can take an interpretive boat ride across the lake to the reef. The park also features a 1.4-mile dog-friendly trail and a pet-friendly beach at the bottom of Mazinaw Lake.
Lake Charleston not only offers scenic hiking trails from the highest point in the state, but is also a popular spot for wildlife viewing, boating, fishing and swimming.
