Life jackets are recommended (and provided) for puppies. Basic hearing training is essential (unless the owner wants to swim in the river). It’s also a great way to bond with your human, stay active and healthy and of course take selfies with complete strangers.
The three-hour Dog & Human SUP group sessions take place during the spring and summer and start at Kew Bridge with a pub stop halfway. If you missed the sun, the club also offers canoeing sessions in autumn, departing from the Royal Canoe Club in Teddington. Supervised at every stage by an instructor, until one or two people and their four-legged friends can slip through in a canoe or kayak. Once you arrive, paddle with the tide past the All Blacks training ground. Expect lots of fun, combined with a pretty majestic view of Kingston upon Thames in the background.

The self-propelled (and multi-purpose) electric Go Boat experience travels the Regents Canal around Paddington, Little Venice and up to Camden Locks. Up to seven human passengers can choose between a two or three hour journey zigzagging through the tunnels, with the chance to explore everything from London Zoo to Camden Market. Picnics are welcome on board at no extra cost and blankets and umbrellas are provided on rainy days.

It features cult classics and new releases with stunning views of the London skyline. And if you’re lucky, you’ll also be treated to a breathtaking sunset. Here, wireless headphones and comfy lounge chairs reign supreme, along with blankets for those unwanted cold days. In addition to movies, you can expect plenty of unusual drinks and snacks at the chic bar.

In this immersive theater and dining experience hosted by the boys and girls of Funicular Productions, passengers board at Pedley Street Station, a railway arch in Bethnal Green that has been transformed into a railway carriage luxury of the 19th century. Launched in 2012 by London-based yoga teacher Mahny Djahanguiri, Doga (Dog Yoga) hopes to create positive connections, greater harmony and a sense of calm between people and their dogs. The session combines yoga, meditation, gentle massages and stretching exercises and can be done with small or large dogs. From Walthamstow to Lewisham, six of the seven homes run by Fizzy Living welcome residents with their pets and help organize regular puppy meet-ups and doga sessions for residents and their visitors. Sessions led by Doga Mahny can be booked throughout the year, indoors or outdoors depending on the season.
The limited-edition dogtail menu (essentially a cocktail menu for dogs) was so popular when it launched in the spring that it has now become a staple at Smith & Whistle. Dog beer (chicken broth) and Pawsecco (an herbal tea) are served only at the bar in glamorous, shiny bowls. Other refreshments include a coconut water concoction prepared by a canine mixologist.
