We just love to travel with Henry and this time it is his first trip. We went to Quebec City which was more than we expected!

It is important to choose the right hotel for traveling with dogs. If you’re traveling with your dog for the first time, check out this blog on how to choose a pet-friendly hotel.

Dog Friendly Hotel

We were traveling with my parents and their senior dog, Lupa, a 10-year-old Coton de Tulear. It is important to choose a hotel that will suit all of us and our dogs.

We stayed at the Hotel Port-Royal, right next to Port Quebec and Old Quebec. We barely used the car during our 5 day stay, it was in such a convenient location.

The daily pet fee is $25 per day (which is a bit surprising considering they didn’t clean our rooms during our entire stay due to COVID). But you should expect pets when you travel, so let them know in advance to plan for them.

I like that the room has a small kitchen with a coffee maker, oven and toaster. It was very convenient because we brought our own breakfast and snacks, but also because we could keep Henry’s food in the fridge and freezer.

Since we are on the first floor, we have our own patio where we can sit outside with our dogs without worrying about anyone. It was a great place to eat breakfast and hang out.

The next restaurant, Louise Taverne & Bar à Vin, is very nice and allows dogs on the terrace (as long as they are not old).

In fact, many restaurants are dog-friendly. By law, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but the terraces are mostly for dogs, but you always have to ask, because we have changed somewhere.

Traveling with Lupa, a 10-year-old Coton de Tulear, we plan our days around how safe it is for her to walk. Not to mention it was extremely hot all week!

75 Of The Best Things To Do In Quebec

Our days were spent exploring new streets and places, and for a few hours during our dinner the dogs were with Linda, a lovely keeper we found on Rover who took excellent care of our puppies. This is a great help because we cannot leave dogs alone in the hotel room.

Planning ahead is key. We make dinner before we go, so we know what schedule we can give the babysitter. It also saved us a lot of time waiting at the restaurants, and we didn’t even have to struggle to find them.

I highly recommend planning ahead when traveling with a dog. Having a dog with you is an added responsibility and you want to make sure you are a good dog owner.

If you’re looking for a great dog-friendly adventure while in Quebec, check out Parc de la chute Montmorency. This 83-meter-high waterfall has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.

Time, go through the suspension bridge. Now I have a bridge phobia and can not get through, especially with Henry (who was fearless of course), but my parents said it was great!

Where I want to walk. To get there, we took a boat ride to get a panoramic view of not only the falls, but the St. Lawrence, Isle of Orleans and Quebec City.
