However, many caravan parks in Australia that have cabins do not allow dogs in their cabins, although they do allow dogs in their areas. It becomes difficult if you don’t have your own caravan or caravan, not even a tent.

If you’re thinking about staying in a cabin with your dog in NSW, I’ve put together this list of some of the pet-friendly cabins in NSW. Most are located in caravan parks, while some are simply cabin parks. Even if it doesn’t make sense, we hope this gives you some ideas on where to go with your child on your next vacation!

Many caravan parks near Sydney do not allow pets, so it is no surprise that there are many pet-friendly cabins near Sydney. Check out these options available within a two-hour drive of Sydney.
It is located just a two-hour drive from South Sydney to Gerringong, south of Kiama. A dog-friendly caravan park is Werri Beach Holiday Park. As well as allowing pets on site, the caravan park also has three sleeping cabins suitable for two pets.
Direct reservations are required when booking a cabin with a dog. Please note that dogs are only allowed in the park outside of peak NSW school hours and on public holidays.
Canberra Dog Friendly Accommodation
One of the best things about staying at Werri Beach Holiday Park with your dog is that you are right next to Werri Beach, which has an off-leash section. There is also a major off-leash park and the friendly Kiama Coast Walk nearby.
Recently, two Kiama Coast Holiday Parks run by Kiama Council have started allowing pets to stay in some of their cottages. At Surf Beach Holiday Park, there are select two-bedroom cottages that are pet-friendly, for an additional $25 per night.
The park is located just a short walk from Kiama town center and its famous blowhole. However, please note that the nearby beach does not allow dogs on the sand, although there is a dog gym nearby at KaleulaReserve.
It is necessary to book directly by calling or emailing the park. Like Werri Beach Holiday Park, pets are only allowed in the off-season.
The Best Dog-friendly Nsw Holiday Ideas 🐶 Off The Leash
If you want to head north of Sydney, Blacksmiths Beachside Holiday Park is the largest dog-friendly caravan park between the Central Coast and Newcastle. I camped at the front of the park in my RV, but there are also two dog-friendly cabins.
Both pet-friendly cabins have a dog door leading to the enclosed balcony, and a dog bed and water bowl are provided. It is best to call ahead before booking to check the rules, as some species are prohibited. However, there are no maximum time limits.
The park is a short walk from Blacksmith’s lifeguard beach, and a short walk (or long walk) from the dog beach on the northern edge of town. A dog wash service is available on site.
Pokolbin is located just over two hours from central Sydney, depending on traffic, but still close enough for a quick weekend getaway with your dog. If you’re looking for a pet-friendly Hunter Valley cottage, head to Ingenia Holidays Hunter Valley.

Check out these pet-friendly cabins at caravan parks along the New South Wales north coast, heading north from Port Stephens to the Queensland border. It’s perfect for a drive along the NSW coast or a relaxing beach holiday, preferably one of NSW’s dog-friendly beaches.
There aren’t many pet-friendly lodges near Port Stephens, but another fun caravan park in the area is BIG4 Bays Holiday Park in Anna Bay, although unfortunately pets are no longer allowed during peak times including school holidays In New South Wales and long weekends.
In addition to allowing dogs in motorized and non-motorized areas, dogs are also allowed in select cabins and mobile homes. Choose between two bedrooms, a studio, a Betty Budget Cabin, or perhaps Daisy the Cute Caravan or Ruby the Retro Caravan. Check out the latest pet-friendly options in their area. The park is located just a short walk from the outdoor dog park at Berube Beach, or alternatively Bagenals Beach at Corlett, in the calm waters of Port Stephens. A free dog wash service is also available on site.
The Twin Cities of Forster-Tuncurry are a fun place to visit with your dog. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches and cafes, and many pet-friendly cottages to stay with your dog by your side.
Another RV park that offers pet-friendly accommodations is Lani’s Holiday Island, on the edge of the lake in Forster. Dog owners are often advised to keep pets in select cabins. Choose from pet-friendly cabins, villas and cottages, each sleeping up to four or five people. Also check linen availability.
Up to two pets are allowed per booking, with no seasonal restrictions – get in early if you want a summer break away from your child!

Another great dog-friendly trailer park in Forster-Tuncurry is Discovery Parks-Forster, located north of the city on the Darawank River. Dogs are welcome to stay in the park year-round, whether in designated areas or in designated cabins.
Cabins where dogs are allowed are clearly listed on their website – just look for the “Dogs OK” icon. Even the luxury riverfront cabins allow pets! Note that there is an additional fee, and usually only one dog is allowed per reservation, but double check with management if you have two puppies.
The park also has plenty of additions for dogs (although families will love the opening of the new pool and splash park). There is a fenced dog park with shade and a dog washing and drying area (fee) and every Sunday at 8am there is a Discovery Parks walk.
Further north, Diamond Waters Caravan Park is located 40 minutes south of Port Macquarie, on the Camden Haven River near Laurieton. It’s a beautiful place surrounded by bush and welcomes dogs all year round, although there are no cats to protect the local wildlife.

There are pet-friendly cabins in the park. Up to 2 dogs are allowed, with a small additional cleaning fee of USD 20 per stay. Check their website for their full pet policy. There is also an outdoor dog park!
The most popular caravan park with pet owners is Reflections Holiday Parks Mooney Beach, north of Coffs Harbour. Dogs are allowed all year round at this caravan park in selected areas and cabins.
Dog-friendly cabins include 4-person Premium Cabins, 5- and 6-person Premium Cabins, and new Junior Cabins perfect for couples with children. Dog-friendly options are clearly listed.
The park is located near the dog-friendly Moonee Beach, which has a luxury dog wash on site. There’s also plenty to do around Coffs Harbor with your dog if you’re staying for a while.

Located on the road from Coffs Harbor and Moonee Beach, Woolgoolga is home to Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park. Pets are welcome in the park most days of the year, except for December 20, January 14, and the Easter long weekend.
Besides the pet-friendly areas, pets are welcome to stay in three cabins: Water View Villas (only those designated for pets), Bankia Cabins and Lake View Cabins. Each cabin accommodates five people.
Dogs are allowed on the adjacent beach – try to see the remains of Buster Shipwreck (see my Coffs Harbor guide) and relax on Woolgoolga Back beach outside the Little Tern breeding season. Plus, there’s a new dog bathroom!
Yamba is a quiet coastal town on the north coast, but it has everything you need, including a large dog-friendly caravan park. BIG4 Saltwater Yamba accepts pets year-round, in both powered and unpowered campsites and in a growing number of cabins.
