The UK’s best dog-friendly beaches have been revealed, with new data obtained from an online survey used to find Britons’ favourites.

With spring bringing warmer weather and April being National Pet Month, it’s a great time to get out with a four-legged friend.

The best spot is Durdle Door Beach in Dorset Castle with a friendly score of 8.85 out of 10. It is described as “a walk by the sea for dogs and their owners, the limestone and the glory makes it a nightmare for the game. This result is based on 4298 beach observations in the western part of the country.

Another beach in Dorset, Man O’War Beach, came second after scoring 8.3. Also known as East Durdle Door, it’s a bay with calm waters that protect it from waves – meaning it’s possible to stretch your wallet.

It is joined by the Welsh seaside resort of Three Cliffs Bay in Glamorgan, the first sandy beach on the list. There are ruins on the shore here with plenty of opportunities to explore.

In fourth place, with 8.2 out of 10, is Marloes Sands in Pembrokeshire. On a long golden beach with a huge wall on the side of the mountain, it’s “the perfect opportunity to take a picture with your child,” the report said.
