If you love beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the water and love places where almost everyone you meet loves pets, then a dog-friendly trip to the Outer Banks could be the perfect vacation for you!
We got a taste of what the Outer Banks has to offer when we had to go there for repairs due to a technical problem with our boat (also our house).

What do we find when we reach the Outer Banks? Our trip from Beaufort, North Carolina treated us to stories about the state’s most famous pirate, Blackbeard (or Edward Teach, as his mother called him). His ghost (or at least his name) is everywhere in the Outer Banks.
And I remember in high school being fascinated by the history of the lost English colony of Roanoke Island. The only trace of the disappearance of more than 100 colonies was the word “Croatian” carved into the rock. Even today, there is not enough archaeological evidence to know what happened.
Some argue that the colonists assimilated the native Algonquin into society. Others cite the early colonists’ poor relationship with the natives and argue that the settlers were killed or starved without outside help.
