Field Trips With Dogs Kauai – Funds from the 2019 Canine Outdoor Adventures Grant are being used to purchase new trails, collapsible dog water bowls, and cast iron water bottles for our dogs in the Kaua Space Adventure Program at the Humane Society.
Meeting our supply requirements for the Shelter Dogs in Space Travel Program is challenging. The 2019 Dog Walks offer makes the program more enjoyable for two and four legged participants and ensures that our field trips are well run. We have as many dogs as possible in the program because it is important that they are mentally and physically rich. Thanks to this funding, we managed to buy the supplies we needed to ensure the safety of our group field trips and the needs of the dogs while they were there for the day.

This grant helps 7-18 dogs six days a week. It is difficult to give the exact number of dogs, because some travel every day, and some go often. Our best guess is that about 50 different dogs have gone on field trips since our new supply arrived.
Puppies Make Me Happy
The 2019 Dog Field Trip Grant has helped many dogs to have opportunities to adopt or adopt dogs as a result of participating in the Field Trip Program! Muriel (first photo), a beautiful mix, was one of the dogs we adopted as a result of our field trip. The handlers “fell in love with her white brown eyes and puppy kisses” and decided she should fly to Washington to join her family. He is happy and loving now, adjusting well to life in the Pacific Northwest!
Wylie (second photo), a sweet big mix, is one of the dogs fully sponsored by A.L.O.H.A. The adoption program is because one of the tour guides fell in love with him and wants to see him move to a place where he will have a better chance of being adopted. Since housing is scarce on Kauai, he saved up money to move and allowed him to join one of our rescue partners in Oakland, where he lived in foster care while waiting for housing.
