Vancouver Area Dogs, Trails & Coffee features a unique combination of 5 easy “Chill” trails and 5 moderate “Trail” trails throughout Vancouver, White Rock, Richmond, Burnaby and North Vancouver. These dog-friendly trails cater to a variety of fitness levels and are perfect for spring, offering great trails, amazing dog centers, and access to great cafes and dog parks. Mostly flat with small hills, the desert roads are short and easy, good for walking or hiking, and ideal for family outings or outings with friends. In contrast, exciting trails provide a more challenging experience that will get you sweaty and dirty, improve your fitness, and create lasting memories, whether alone or with friends. You will find at least two methods in the Chill category that are new to you. Take the opportunity to play hiking in your own backyard and challenge yourself to explore it all. Please note that marks may appear due to cleaning or weather conditions.

Registration is open from February 9 to September 1, 2024. The event starts on March 16, but you can start the 10-week trial anytime after you sign up. If you registered on March 16th, your number will be extended from March 16th to May 26th. If you register later, your issue will start on the registration date, but you must register no later than September 1, 2024.

If you’re a dog lover like me, your pup is a part of your family and in some cases the center of your universe. Therefore, you will want to find activities that you can enjoy with your best friend.
Our two-year-old Winston has tons of energy, and last weekend he had so much fun burning it off on excursions around his dog-friendly trails and parks in and around New West.
Winston had no idea what he was getting into when he jumped into my car Saturday morning. It rained, not as much as we expected in the middle of summer, but we packed towels and raincoats.
Winston was happy to get out of the car and run, despite having no friends around due to the weather (see below). Park Vestbornko is located next to the sports fields and long – my suggestion? Bring the ball!
Minnekhada Regional Park
Although the park is relatively narrow compared to other parks, it allows for a very nice and linear run.
Next on our list was the Brunet-Fraser Regional Greenway, so that’s what we did. This trail is supposed to be dog free, but that makes sense because the trail is multi-purpose. Even if you can’t see the view, on sunny days I promise it will be amazing.
The cool thing about this place is that it is part of the Central Valley Greenway that connects to Vancouver. (I’ve been down this road and can confirm that it’s long but amazing.)
This is one of the best forest tracks the New West has to offer and Winston really comes alive! Even though you are in the city, it feels far away. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can walk the 6.8km to King’s Park – taking at least an hour to climb.
Vacationing With Your Dog In Whistler
This road is over 3 km long and is located on the New West/Burnaby border. This is usually easy and takes about an hour to complete. The bright side of this trail was that we were able to follow the river where Winston’s body drowned. It is accessible by car and has plenty of street parking.
Although you can hear the funicular in the distance, the track itself is very quiet and provides an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
This brings us to Taylor Park, which is also in Burnaby but very close to New West. We love coming here because the park is so big so there are lots of places for the dogs to run and chase balls.
This park used to be a dump, but has since been transformed into a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy, not just dogs. It defines a multi-purpose area that includes sports fields, a playground and a wide area.

Earlier in the week we visited Queens Park – the main park of the New West – and it was sunny. The garden is very beautiful and covers 75 hectares of land. To put it into perspective, think of it as 57 football fields or even 18 Walmart Supercenter stores. There is a playground, tennis, sports fields and a dog park.
Queen’s Park provides plenty of shade, so it’s perfect for jogging. There was also a small water pump and a dog bowl for them to hold water.
After a morning of exploring and exploring, Winston and I headed to Funbit in New West’s Royal Square Mall to cool off with peanut butter and apple flavored frozen yogurt.
