You can visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, a pioneer farm, the Lincoln Cabin site, the grave of Abraham Lincoln’s mother, and the Twelve Stones Historic Trail. Do you want to stay all day? Madison County is the covered bridge capital of Iowa. This province has the largest set of covered bridges found in one area! Because there are many bridges accessible via dirt roads, it is best to leave the RV at the campground while you explore the area.

Our more than six years of traveling with pets in motorhomes. Meanwhile, when I think of the one place that has surprised me the most, it’s the claws under the chalk pyramids of Kansas. Not many travelers know about this destination, but now the secret is out! Monument Rocks is located on the western edge of Gove County, Kansas. It is a series of large chalk monoliths known as the Chalk Pyramids. Dogs are allowed to run free and you will feel like you are on another planet. This is truly a unique experience.

Being originally from Florida, we love being at the beach! But after visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with Brickell and Digby, I can now understand lake life! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore features miles of sandy beaches and cliffs towering over Lake Michigan. As in many areas, there are some beaches where dogs are not allowed, so check with the friendly park staff, ask for a map or look online. We found Brickell and Digby to be more places than we expected in this beautiful lakeside setting. But remember that dogs are not allowed on the dune for safety reasons.
Your dog will feel as big as Paul Bunyan when you take him to Bemidji, Minnesota! This was a nice stop for us on the trip. Meet the giant statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox for a great photo opportunity. This roadside attraction has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. Built in 1937, Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox stands on the shores of Lake Bemidji, near the Babe Visitor Information Center. We usually stayed away from the big cities on our RV trips because our dogs were older. But we found Gateway Arch National Park in Missouri to be a great balance of city and character. Two iconic structures in this 91-acre park are breathtaking. Your dog will enjoy walking the green grass and park areas, watching the horses and carriages go by and relaxing with a picnic.
