Best Dog Friendly Wineries Hunter Valley – Just over two hours from Sydney, it’s quick and easy to get to the Hunter Valley in New Wales, whether for a day or a week. But don’t think that your dog has to miss out on the fun. On our last visit to the Hunter Valley with our dog, we visited Briar Ridge Vineyard in Mount View, which claims to be the best dog-friendly winery in the Hunter! Through the door of this room, dogs are allowed in and out on the large veranda, a great place to enjoy and savor the afternoon sun.

We once enjoyed a wine tasting at Tintilla Estate with our dog. The front door is reminiscent of a Tuscan house, down to the beautiful sunlight on our visit, the outdoor tables facing north are a good choice on cool but sunny days. There is also a semi-enclosed area where the dogs can hang out if the weather is bad.
Tasting reservations at Tintilla is a must, especially on weekends. I highly recommend choosing the VIP wine tasting which also includes a selection of their olive products and local cheeses. Do you want sweets? Now they have a wine and chocolate pairing!
Another popular wine among wine hounds is Pepper Tree Wines in Pokolbin. With a door open seven days a week, reservations are essential, and wine tastings abound. Dogs are allowed through the basement entrance and can meet local dogs.

Some of the other pet-friendly wineries in Pokolbin include Hanging Tree Wines (canine visitors are welcome to play with their dogs for wine, Vodka, Muscat and Bundy) and Hungerford Hill Wines (dogs are allowed outside, check the cellar). the door again).

Unfortunately, when I visited in 2020, all the parks had signs that said dogs were only allowed on leashes. A popular local dog walk (although dogs must be kept on a lead) is Kitchener Dam, about 5km south of Cessnock. In the park opposite the large plate head, an interesting remnant of a mine once stood in place. There is a pleasant 1.2 km footpath around the lake, home to ducks and swans, as well as a long path through the nearby bush.
Please note that Hunter Valley Gardens is pet-free, so if you wish to visit the gardens, please arrange for your dog to be boarded.
Many of the restaurants and cafes around the Hunter Valley have outdoor dining areas where your dog can join you. It is best to plan in advance, as reservations are usually recommended for weekends and only a few options are available during the week.
One of the most popular places for dogs is the Deck Cafe Lovedale. The cafe is open daily for breakfast and lunch, with a tapas-style menu at lunchtime. Sometimes a tapas menu is also available on selected evenings.

Another option is to go to the Pokolbin Recreation Area, located on the hillside south of Hunter Valley Gardens, with many sheltered picnic tables and vineyard views of Brokenback Mountain.
Other dog-friendly cafes and restaurants include Two Fat Blokes Kitchen, Restaurant Botanica, Amanda’s on the Edge and Fawk Foods Kitchen and Bakery (also where you can go for freshly baked pastries). Even the French fine dining restaurant Bistro Molines allows dogs in its courtyard.

The Hunter Valley is also home to several breweries. One of my favorite places to visit is Ironbark Hill Brewhouse, which has a large, dog-friendly outdoor seating area. Order a delicious paddle or order lunch. Please note that it is only open during the day.
If you see a pub open in the evening, as well as the Brokenback Bar at Estate Tuscany (where you can stay with your dog, see below). In the open air there are special tables for animals.
