Take the M6 junction 36 and head west on the A590 towards Barrow and Newby Bridge. Follow the A590 until you reach the roundabout signposted Bowness, turn right onto the A592 and we are on the left for about three miles, turn left over the barrier and follow the road past the farm until you reach reception.

If you are traveling to us by train, the nearest station is Windermere, approximately 6 miles away. Wow, wow….. This property needs no words, but Gatesgarth won the prestigious “Best Residential Building” award at the 2020 North Korea Design Awards. The construction is thermally efficient and incorporates many local features, from artisans and builders to the wool of the Herdwick sheep on the dining chairs – yes, look again at the chairs around the dining table. They are actually made from Herdwick goatwood combined with resin, I’m impressed, and if you are too, you can read more here. The kitchen is designed and handcrafted by local artisans in the Rusland movement, with attention to detail everywhere, from the lighting to the stove faucet and wine cooler!
Gatesgarth has been designed to be wheelchair accessible, with access from the parking area to the front door and the open plan kitchen/dining area on the ground floor. Downstairs are two bedrooms, one of which has a wheelchair accessible wet/shower room.
The floor-to-ceiling windows in the living rooms located on the first floor are perfect for soaking up the beautiful views, and the covered balcony is perfect for stargazing!

The garden in front of the house has garden furniture and is ideal for enjoying the view of Constanta Voda and the waterfalls. The view can be enjoyed from the lovely soft window seat in the living room and from the master bedroom.
The cottage has charm with a wood burning stove, oak flooring in the living room and natural slate flooring in the modern kitchen.

The added bonus of a games room makes Coniston Farmhouse ideal for a family with teenagers. There are wonderful views of the falls and Coniston Water from the garden, including Coniston Shores just a stone’s throw from the doorstep.

A lot of thought has gone into the renovation of this dog friendly traditional terraced cottage with open fire and lovely views from the enclosed rear garden.
We think it would be perfect for two couples or a family with teenagers (ask for a double room) – as both bedrooms have such lovely bathrooms!

Scale Hill Hotel
Tilberthwaite is one of those Lakeland delights where you feel far enough away from it all to really relax, but with amenities not far away if you really need them. Previous guests have loved soaking up the atmosphere here, and as one reviewer noted, the goats are practically on your doorstep, so if you’re bringing your dog, keep that in mind!
Due to the location, one reviewer mentioned that the phone signal was very weak/non-existent with their provider, if that counts.
