Dog Friendly Trails (0 to 100 points): Trail information found on the hiking and walking website AllTrails. To get the data in this index, we search specifically by city and provide filters for “dog friendly streets”.

Dog-friendly hotels (0 to 100 points): We use Google Travel to find dog-friendly hotels in each city and calculate a score based on the city’s population.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants (0 to 100 points): BringFido.com’s directory helps you find dog-friendly restaurants in each city, and then we rate them individually.

Dog-Friendly Rentals (0 to 100 points): We searched rental data from Realtor.com to find the latest information on dog-friendly homes and apartments in each city. We calculate data per capita (100,000 population).

Pet Sitters (0 to 100 points): We use the Sittercity directory to determine which dogs are available in each city.

Dog Insurance Price (0 to 100 points): We collected dog insurance information from the website, Figo. We model the data by creating a mix of students with the same insurance rate (male, two years, 90% reimbursement, $500 deductible, $5,000 premium).
