Best Pet Friendly Resorts Near Mumbai – As you know, I have been in Mumbai for two months and as usual, city life has me wandering around again. When I’m back in town, it’s always work, work, work, and pretty soon, one week starts to blend into the next. When that happens, we all need to get off autopilot, don’t you agree?
A quick getaway from Mumbai and a change of scenery to recharge was just what I needed, so I packed my bags and headed to Manas Resort in Igatpuri, a place I had been to often before but I didn’t stop. it.

Pass through Igatpuri Gate and you will find Manas Resort near the main road. Since I uploaded my first Instagram story from a board outside, I’m amazed at how many readers it’s gotten, some of them from ten years ago.

Many say that Manas Resort is one of the best resorts to visit during monsoons as it is shrouded in mist which makes it a magical resort. However, it was a sunny day when I went. It hasn’t rained yet. However, the view of the hills and valleys from the concrete jungle is green and soothing. The resort is well maintained and colorful with green lawns and bougainvillea, as well as a children’s play area and a casual play area for entertainment.
While Manas Resort may not be a “luxury resort,” what sets it apart is its petting zoo, which is a fun experience for everyone (families, children, and all animal lovers). When we think of “zoos” we think of animals in cages, they are more than just a tourist attraction. But that’s not what Igatpuri Zoo is all about. I’ll get to this later.
Different rooms offer different levels of comfort and feel. I stayed in the officer’s room, a simple little room on the other side of the estate, facing the park. Although the building itself looked old, the rooms were comfortable and bright, the bathrooms were modern and the beds were comfortable – just what I needed from a home away from home.
Toiletries and in room facilities such as tea coffee making facilities and laundry facilities were provided but our in room dining menu had no page and when we ordered evening snacks it took a long time to arrive so I’m not sure if the restaurant is what they offer or not something to offer. As the evening wore on and the temperature dropped slightly, sitting on the balcony enjoying the sights and sounds of the dogs playing was one of the best parts of my stay.

I’m surprised that Manas Resort doesn’t have an a la carte restaurant! Yes, guests must follow the buffet format from breakfast to dinner. Breakfast is served in a cool restaurant at the entrance of the hotel, which includes simple items like eggs and bread along with some South Indian dishes like idli and dosa and Maharashtrian delicacies like poha or upma. I’m not a big fan of breakfast, and for someone who enjoys a large cup of tea in the morning, repeatedly replenishing my small cup of tea didn’t ease my sleep.
However, lunch and dinner were served in the air-conditioned banquet hall and were delicious! Everything I tried was homemade and delicious – from humble dal to vegetable sabzi, chicken tikka to rogan josh – mouthwatering! You’ll also find some Indochinese items. I ate Hakka noodles on the first day and Manchurian noodles on the second day. However, it would be better if both Chinese products were available on the same day as they complement each other.
The infinity pool was love at first sight, but when I saw a bunch of dogs at the resort, I just chose to play with them and forget about swimming. Two restaurants, 360° (rustic atmosphere) and Crème (single-row multi-dog restaurant) are the main venues. Manas Resort also has its own spa, but again, the animals are better than a massage to melt away all the stress!
As an avid animal lover, I object to the idea of using animals as tools, whether in the home or as a lure in business. During my visit to Manas Resort in Igatpuri I got a glimpse of how they are treated and all in all it was pretty cool! Guests’ animals and pets are treated like royalty, even more so than the guests themselves, largely because the resort’s owner, Mr. Nitin Karambelkar, is an animal lover himself and works hard to ensure that every furry friend is treated well. Pets at Manas Resort include a variety of dogs, sugar gliders, red iguanas, turkeys, exotic chickens, ostriches, pheasants and more – you don’t have to pay anything to see, feed or play with the animals.
Although the history of every new puppy brought in is thoroughly investigated to ensure it is a purebred, the puppies are not purchased from a breeder (we are all aware of the horrific practices breeders engage in when giving birth to puppies ). The dogs at Manas Resort are born into good families and the dogs are born naturally. Once the puppy is born, special transportation is arranged to transport it.
Before the puppy or even the bird arrives at the farm, it first spends several months at Mr. Nitin Karambelkar’s home. It was here that they got used to people and, more importantly, children, as the children in his building were eager to take their puppies to play. Once the puppy/bird arrives at the resort, it becomes gentle and able to socialize with its own kind.

The animals have plenty of room to run and exercise. Except on hot, sunny afternoons, when I keep them in shady cages, my guests can watch them run and play freely in the large grassy area enclosed on all sides, and they join in the fun.
From German Shepherds to Collies, Labrador Retrievers to French Bulldogs, you won’t be able to choose which friendly boat to choose first. But don’t worry if you can’t play with all the dogs, guests can take the resort’s dogs around the property and even in their rooms if you’d like. When it comes to food, dogs eat raw meat instead of dog meat, and birds eat a variety of beans, seeds, and fruits. If you happen to be near an airplane during feeding time, join in and feel the sweet, fluttering sensation of a bird eating from your hands, perching on your head, and having fun.
Secondly, although the dogs have a regular team of workers who care for them day and night, the worker who takes care of the birds seems to win the affection of the birds, who begin to rejoice when they hear that he is around. Veterinarians visit the animals every month and check the health of each animal, whether they are sick or not. How wonderful!

Each animal’s personality is well known – which dog has a ball, which dog likes to play in the mud, which dogs don’t get along with each other, and even which bird likes to peck visitors’ ears! Not only do the staff maintain a close relationship with their pets, but the resort owners also maintain a close relationship with their pets so they are treated like family members rather than children.
While I don’t have to write all of this out in detail, I think it’s important for visitors to know. The way the animals are treated at Manas Resort is not only an example of how to treat them at home, but they allow you to enjoy their company knowing that they are not living a sad life and are just there for the tourists.
Manas Resort is a great escape from Mumbai and it’s great to see how the love for animals and hospitality has created a resort that stands out from the crowd (business) and fulfills Mr. Nitin’s dream, which is what our great A dream for most animal lovers.
