But there’s always an important member you might miss when you leave: the four friends in your life. However, there’s no need to leave the dog behind with a friend or at home when planning your next UK holiday. When you travel, they can accompany you on walks, cycling, city tours and sailing, making for a fun and memorable holiday without leaving them at home.
Bar Harbor Is The Best Place To Vacation With A Dog.
There are plenty of dog and pet friendly places across the UK, from seaside hotels to cabins and cottages in the Cotswolds. Here’s a great selection – just don’t forget to pack medicine and lead.
One of the most beautiful parts of the UK, the Lake District is a haven for outdoor pursuits and offers dogs (and their owners) plenty of opportunities for short walks, long walks and rugged walks. Most of the roads between the villages are easy to walk, and your pets are unlikely to get bored during the visit.
Mire House Farm, just outside the market town of Keswick, has a range of shepherd’s cottages and hills overlooking the North Fells. La Vireto is one of the few dog-friendly residences, with a small fenced garden and several acres of surrounding grass perfect for a walk or a quick walk outside. The nearby village of Threlkeld also has several pet friendly pubs.
The cozy cottage comes with its own private heater, and has a cozy wooden interior with outdoor seating – a great choice for couples and our furry friend.
Pet-friendly Vacation Spots For Dog Owners
While Cornwall’s Fistral Coast is known as a surfer’s paradise, on calm days this 750 meters of golden sand is a surfer’s paradise on Earth, with plenty of space to run. Back in Newquay, there are dog-friendly pubs, restaurants and cafes, with activities such as steam train rides in the Lappa Valley or fishing trips and welcoming your furry friends.
The Esplanade Hotel overlooks the Fistral, offering guests a base with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Dogs are very welcome here, there are dog beds and toys, and there is a special dog-friendly ‘tapas’ menu, with changing dishes such as fish and chips or a roast dinner.
This Cornish hotel has spacious rooms, a spa and pool and easy access to the beach, as well as a room for the whole family – with a special focus on ‘making memories’, and offers surf lessons and family activities such as.

The Cotswolds have all the walks and beautiful scenery of the Lake District, but they are beautiful. Here, rolling hills and acres of meadows surround beautiful beehive villages, with plenty of walking opportunities, including leisurely riverside walks in villages such as Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Snowshill Manor Farmhouse, which is part of a larger estate, is a National Trust property in the small village of Snowshill (near Broadway). This is “real hiking”, with many dog-friendly routes nearby, such as part of the 102-mile Cotswold Way, although tourists can visit nearby Stratford-upon-Avon or Chipping Campden. The cottage has stylish, modern interiors and a wood-burning fireplace to keep guests warm; there is enough space for two dogs, which means that large groups can rent this particular apartment.
Brighton is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the UK. There are plenty of walks around the city, its beaches, parks such as Pavilion Gardens, and the nearby South Downs, but Brighton is also home to dog-friendly businesses, including many pubs and cafes.
You can take your dog for a ride on the Volk Electric Railway, or visit any of the town’s dog events, such as the Dogtember events at Saltdean Lido (where dogs and owners can take part in four daily sessions during the swimming weekend in mid-September). 9 and October 1).
Dog-friendly Places To Visit In Cotswold
Greater Brighton is the most dog friendly area in town. Dogs can be assigned to one of the rooms, and will receive a welcome pack that includes a blanket, water bowl and treats. While pets are not allowed in the main restaurant or terrace, they can join you for dinner in the hotel’s Victoria Lounge and Fireside Bar.
Yorkshire is another great county for family dog outings, with beautiful towns and beaches offering owners plenty of ways to fill their days. Whitby is a coastal town but only a few miles from the edge of the North York Moors National Park, so it’s a choice between a walk in the countryside or a run on the sand and beach.
The Egton Estate is on the Moors and sits in 6,000 acres of unspoiled nature. With acres of land and miles of river running through the estate, it’s the perfect place to take a (well-behaved) dog that can play with the owner’s rescue dogs (and sample the organic selection).
Your four-legged friend can make an appearance while fishing or shooting, and part of the coastal path passes through Egton. For dinner, you can use the BBQ or visit the estate pub, the Horseshoe Hotel.
Travelling To Spain With Your Dog? The Best Places To Visit
The Ayrshire countryside is acres of rolling hills and lush forests surrounding small villages, and Ayr is a popular Scottish seaside resort for day trips (there are scenic walks and beach visits to promise the dog).
But if you really want to go wild with your dog, stay at Liberty Mountain cabins. Nestled in the hills and cliffs of the Carrick coast, these six cottages boast scenic views across the water to the Isle of Arran. Dogs will enjoy a place to run, whether it’s near the beach or near the forest, and they can join you for a meal at the Anchorage, a nearby pub in the village of Dunure. When it’s time to sit down, they’ll be as grateful for the fireplace as you are (though they probably won’t appreciate the hot tub or the views).
