My stepdad loves history and was eager to visit Plymouth’s iconic landmarks and learn more about the local history. I spent time on the shore watching the boats go by and eating delicious food. What about Dexter? Dexter is ready for the adventure ahead.

The 11 Most Dog-friendly Beaches In The U.s.

Our first dog friendly activity was a visit to the Plimoth Grist Mill. Plimoth Grist Mill is dog friendly outdoors, but not indoors. The grounds were clean and perfect for great photography. The mill is a replica of the 1636 mill built by the Pilgrims in the Plymouth Colony. Outside we could see a large corn plant on the water.

Inside the Plimoth Grist Mill, you can learn about the history of the original mill in a reconstructed mill. The history of the factory also explains how it burned down in 1837 and was rebuilt in 1970. Many of the pieces (stone, spindles, and stone furniture) date from the early 1800s and were salvaged from a foundry near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After visiting Plimoth Grist Mill we went to Bramhall’s Country Store for lunch. Bramhall’s is not your average pet restaurant. Bramhall’s Country Store has a long history. Bramhall’s was founded in 1828 by the great grandfather of the current shop owner.

Upon arrival I was immediately made to feel welcome. Families came and went, including the family dog. Bramhall is more than a restaurant. There is a shop-like building selling local produce, meat, flowers and honey. There are plenty of outdoor picnic areas under large shade trees, and there’s even a live towel garden outside so people can pick their own!

Dog-friendly Vacations Across The United States

We ordered our food at the sidewalk window and were able to eat inside as the kitchen and service area were separate. Sitting inside was like stepping back in time. There were many historical artifacts on the walls and display cases. It created a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

This pet-friendly restaurant is known for three main menu items: sponge cake, local corn and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Ed couldn’t miss the role of the famous clown. This mouthwash contains no oil or fillers and is filled with a soft, chilled plymouth sponge. 1/4 pound clear. These fresh loaves bring a dollop of butter, salt and pepper to New England bread. Ed says it’s the best towelette he’s ever had. He still talks about how great it was.

My mother likes oak trees. He ordered the Puritan Taco. These delicious tacos are filled with grass-fed Plimsoll beef, Atwell’s Golden Cheese, organic free-range beans, and topped with spring mix and micro chives on house-made organic corn tortillas. He was very pleased with how fresh and delicious they were.

I was looking for comfort food. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. It might be a simple dish, but the flavor was far from ordinary. This is a patty made with local havari cheese on Has Levain bread. This soup is made with home-grown beans and local organic tomatoes and is served with garlic and onions. Yes, it was really good! No lunch is complete without a few scoops of ice cream.

After filling our bellies, it was time to leave. Next on our trip to Plymouth was the National Ancestors Memorial. This historic dog-friendly monument is amazing. An 81-foot tall granite statue was erected to honor the passengers.

. The carved figures represent faith, morality, education, law and freedom. This monument has a great dedication: “National Monument of Our Ancestors”. It was built by a grateful people to commemorate the hard work, sacrifice and suffering for civil and religious freedom. This outdoor memorial is open to the public, including dogs.

Dexter called from the beach. Dexter was ready to put his toes in the sand and get his feet wet. Plymouth Long Beach is a 3 mile long barrier beach that is divided into different sections. One zone allows dogs on leashes under owner control year-round, and another zone allows dogs from October 1st to March 31st. Since visiting in October, Dexter has been able to enjoy every part of the beach.

This dog beach in Plymouth Harbor is an important habitat for wildlife, including wetlands and shorebirds. The latter birds were numerous and quite large during our visit! Walking along the beach along Plymouth Bay was definitely one of Dexter’s favorite activities. The salty air and all the smells of the beach have a positive effect on Dexter’s psyche. Come on, now it’s time to check out our dog-friendly hotels.

We stayed at the dog friendly Hampton Inn and Suites Plymouth. We stayed in a spacious room with two double beds. This bright, clean room has a large desk, free Wi-Fi, coffee maker, mini-fridge, LCD HD TV, ironing board and a spacious bathroom with a curved shower for extra space.

The pet friendly cabin was very comfortable and had plenty of storage space for all our belongings. I toured the hotel and took in all the wonderful hotel amenities that Dexter and his family had dropped off. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. If you want to exercise regularly, you can make use of the hotel’s fitness center with state-of-the-art exercise equipment. There was a market selling takeaway food and a 24-hour coffee shop. But I was looking at the free hot breakfast area. We had to wait until morning to see what kind of hot food was served.

After a good night’s sleep, you’re ready to enjoy a hot breakfast at the Hampton Inn & Suites. Any hotel would love to offer free breakfast, but the word on the street was that this would make breakfast better. I was impressed upon entering the beautifully presented breakfast nook.

After breakfast, we went to Brewster Park to relax. This park isn’t just a ride, it has a real history behind it. Built in the early 1920s, the garden covers the original garden given to William Brewster the Elder in 1620. Along the scenic hiking trail, you’ll see statues honoring Plymouth’s early settlers.

The park features two sculptures: Pilgrim Daughter (1922) by Henry Hudson Kitson, a stainless steel sculpture honoring Plymouth’s immigrants from 1700 to 2000, and the Immigrant Monument (2001) by artist Barney Zezz. Even if history isn’t your thing, the scenic gardens along City Brook Stream are perfect for a stroll.

You didn’t think we’d forget to visit the iconic Plymouth Rock, did you? There is no hell. Plymouth Rock is located along the shores of Plymouth Harbor in Pilgrims Memorial State Park. There are many stories surrounding this famous monument. The most common story is that Plymouth Rock actually stepped into the New World. Regardless of what you believe, these icebergs are a symbol of America, and for many, a symbol of freedom.

After taking some photos of Dexter from Plymouth Rock, we walked along Plymouth Harbor. It was great to see the work boats plying the harbor and I even saw a dinghy. There were souvenir shops and restaurants throughout the park. We spent some time shopping and most stores welcomed Dexter. The key to traveling with a well-behaved dog is to ask the store owner if you can come in. I think most of them are.
