Dog Friendly Places To Stay In Maine

Dog Friendly Places To Stay In Maine – This über dog-friendly beachfront hotel makes traveling with a pop easy. Adjacent to Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth, this luxury hotel regularly tops the nation’s rankings for luxury, experience, greenery and, yes, dog-friendliness. Never content to rest on its laurels, the hotel constantly updates the property. And always looking for ways to support not only the environment but also the community.

I have been visiting this hotel regularly since it opened decades ago on the site of the old Crescent Beach Inn. This time I came to the Covid-19 bubble for two nights with a friend and several dogs. Our vacation coincided with the end of the hotel’s annual Pawty Pool season.

What is it, you ask? Every year, when the hotel closes the pool to humans for the season, it opens it to dogs the last week. And as Bo, our 13/4-year-old chocolate lab, discovered, it’s a lot of fun. He and his friends Lincoln (his brother, the black lab) and Welly (the wheat bush or silkworm) played hard.

They were joined by day friend Charlie (a special shelter) and other dogs who came to play and swim. I think at one point there were eight dogs chasing each other behind the pool and some of them were swimming.

Despite being labrador retrievers, neither Beau nor Lincoln swim or fetch. Only with it he climbed to the first level of the pool.

Just because the pool is closed doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your dog at Inn by the Sea. Many benefits continue throughout the year. For starters, the staff’s dogs are cared for and loved. If you visit, don’t be surprised if the staff greets your dog first and then you.

Dog-friendly rooms include L. L. Bean dog bed, dog bowl, dog towel and cleaning bags. And the setup comes with a special menu for dogs. Bo recommends the meat pie, while Link gives the bird dog two paws. When I asked Welly for his opinion, he said; Another satisfied customer.

Dogs can eat with people on the outdoor patio with heating lights, in the pub, and for the winter, due to the social distancing of Covid-19, in another room created for this purpose. Due to Covid, all dining options are by reservation. Room service is, of course, available. Because of the hole, the drawer stays in your door.

A boardwalk and walkway connect the hotel to Crescent Beach, which is open to outdoor dogs during the winter season. During the holiday season, dogs can be leashed near Higgins Beach.

Although none of the dogs were swimmers, they all enjoyed splashing in the waves. The Labs proved once again that any hope of catching up was futile, even though they shared a game of pins.

When it’s time for a walk, options include the beach, a conservation path parallel to the beach, forest trails along the southern border of the park, and the Great Basin Trail. Don’t forget to bring the bags provided with the room to clean up after your dog.

A beach hotel is for those looking for a luxury stay experience: think beach chic with a low-key, fun and casual atmosphere. Cove’s dog-friendly two-bedroom suite had front and back seats for us. The front door opened to a sheltered private courtyard bordered by a lawn. It would be easy to spend hours relaxing here and enjoying the dreamy ocean views.

The living room has an open kitchen (everything except an oven), dining room and sitting area overlooking the gas fireplace. We used it well in the cool autumn nights.

One bedroom has a king bed with sitting area, the other two queens; both had large flat screen TVs. At home, Bo sleeps in his crib. I wasn’t sure how she would react to being neglected, so I brought extra sheets from home to protect the living room beds, which was a smart decision. We both slept well.

The bathroom had a marble vanity with two sinks, a comfortable bathtub and a large shower. I loved the Bee Kind eco-friendly toiletries and the comfy bathrobes and slippers.

Other accommodations include traditional rooms, loft suites, and garden suites in the main hotel, as well as one- and two-bedroom beachfront suites; some of them have indoor-outdoor fireplaces.

The hotel’s glass-fronted seafood restaurant offers a menu by chef Andrew Chadwick to suit all appetites and options for those with dietary restrictions.

We got together and ate out for breakfast every day and dinner one night. If the weather didn’t cooperate, we could eat with the dogs in the pub or the conference room, which is dog-friendly and socially distanced. Use a limited number of tables, it is recommended to book in advance.

Breakfast might be my favorite meal, and I’m not sure which I liked better, the decadent French toast with almond filling with warm maple syrup or the fried mushroom, sausage, mozzarella and pesto frittata.

For lunch I chose the fish of the day, a delicious halibut. My mates raved about the chicken saltimbocca, the burger and the lamb shoulder. We shared it with a split apple – with raspberries, strawberries and ice cream it was a unique twist on the classic and we loved it.

The hotel’s fitness center is open, but due to Covid it is limited to a maximum of four people at a time, so advance booking is required. Similarly, the spa is open from Wednesday to Sunday, but the steam bath and experimental showers are closed.
