Update: Since posting this, I’ve gotten a few emails from people saying they didn’t realize you could fly with two dogs. Then there is! I have done this many times. Each airline has different policies, and they change frequently, so check back often. We’ve put together a guide to help you figure out which airlines allow two dogs in the cabin – find it below.

Family bathrooms are private bathrooms that are larger than stalls. Airports usually provide them with regular bathrooms for traveling families.

Family bathrooms are equipped with a toilet, sink, dressing table and provide more body space. You will have space and privacy to store your bags, allow your dogs and use the bathroom.
If you don’t see a family bathroom, then use the disabled toilet, because no one needs one.
If you’re traveling with two dogs, you’ll need two free handles – one for each. Use a backpack when you’re on the go so the contents don’t get in the way and you can handle tough situations like a tangled leash.
Even if your hands are free, I don’t recommend using a messenger bag. This will block your side and make it difficult to carry the dog’s travel bag at the same time. Plus, a daily jog or brisk walk with a messenger bag is fun (and slimming!).

What’s better than walking two dogs? Walking with two tired dogs! Get both kids tired before heading to the airport. Take a long walk, spend an hour at the dog park, or run. Once in the airport, their desire to play, go for a walk or take a shower is reduced and easier to control if they fall asleep. I always follow the motto: a tired dog is a good dog.
When your pets are in the cabin, they are confined to a small area and cannot stretch their legs. If possible, take your dog for a walk before and after driving. This will tire them out and help free up your hands.
It helps to use a double dog, without a tangled leash when traveling through the airport, so you only have one leash and your dogs stay together.
Not all animal aid stations are created equal, but if you’re lucky, you’ll come across one with space, a seat, and a door that closes. Before check-in or if you have time before bed, visit the nearest animal shelter. Put on the bags and keep cool while your dogs run around, sniffing things and burning off energy. Oh, empty your bladder!

You must supervise your dogs and any other people or children in the vehicle. You should always visit dog friendly resorts. If you’re alone, finding a place to eat or use the bathroom can be difficult, as most public bathrooms are not dog-friendly.
You should also plan your accommodation in advance. If you are traveling with several people, you can sometimes play by ear, stop when you want and look for a hotel. With your dogs, you have to make sure that everywhere you go is dog-friendly, which adds more money and stress.
