Dog Friendly Vacations Near Pittsburgh

Dog Friendly Vacations Near Pittsburgh – Planning a trip to Pittsburgh with your dog? Finding the best apartments for rent or hotels for dogs can be difficult, especially if you have a large dog! Many locations do not allow dogs weighing more than 35 pounds. As a dog mom of two Labradors, this will not work! I get a lot of questions from readers asking for advice on where to stay with their dogs in the Steel City. So we did the research for you and found the best Airbnb for dogs in Pittsburgh.

Unlike other sites that only list pet-friendly rentals, we personally contacted each of these owners to gauge how welcoming they are to dogs of all sizes. The six private homes in this post are owned by very nice, dog-loving Pittsburghers who design their rentals with you and your pup in mind. Don’t hesitate to book a weekend getaway or longer stay with any of them!

*UPDATE 2024: Some of the Air BnBs Lucy visited in 2019 are no longer available. I have a lot more great tips on this article about how to find a dog-friendly AirBnb in Pittsburgh and what neighborhoods are great to stay in if you’re visiting our city. Check out AirBnb and use the filters to see places that are dog friendly.

I always encourage you to contact the host prior to booking to make sure they will not mind your special dog staying on their property. I have 2 labradors now so I always check with people if it is ok to bring 2 large dogs in a rental.

Don’t you hate it when you’re looking for the perfect Airbnb or hotel and realize they only accept dogs under 25 pounds? Not the case with any of these places! I work for you and make sure that you and your dog will be very happy with every rental. I wondered if those places had features that I knew my dogs didn’t like, like spiral staircases or sleeping areas that the dogs couldn’t reach. There are places I don’t book, so I don’t recommend them.

Another element I took into account when compiling this list is how well I know each of these Pittsburgh neighborhoods. All of these dog-friendly AirBnbs are located in walkable areas near pet-friendly amenities like parks, trails, breweries, and more! In each property review we’ve made some recommendations for dog-friendly places to visit nearby. Oh, and every rental is one where you have the whole place to yourself. As a single mom of a dog, these are the only types of places I book on AirBnb (safe for me and the dogs!).

There are lots of great things for dogs to do in the downtown area. Many luxury hotels are dog-friendly and happy to serve fresh meals (stay at the Fairmont near Market Square for that!). You’re steps away from PNC Park, which hosts Pirates Pup Nights every Tuesday at home games! While there are great dog-friendly hotels in the city, sometimes you want access to a kitchen and the extra privacy you get with AirBnB. Plus, AirBnbs can often be cheaper than staying in a hotel for a few days.

This fully renovated historic home has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 4. The host, Doug, welcomes well-behaved dogs. So far she said that all her owners respect her house very much and are very clean. “I have 160-year-old floors, only a few rugs and few dog-level things to worry about, so there’s very little chance of damage!” The only dog rule here is to keep them in a kennel if you plan to leave them home alone during your stay.
