I’m a photographer and that means I’m always in beautiful places, beaches and parks to photograph. See examples of photos of my dogs. I reached out to my friends on Instagram and put together a list of must-do walks with my dog. Thank you very much to all those who love walking their dogs and recommending the most beautiful places.

Unless otherwise noted, dogs are allowed in the parks listed above, but are expected to be on a leash at all times.
If you’re looking for one of the best views of Auckland, North Head in Devonport is the place to go. From the top of North Head you will see Devonport Harbour, Cheltenham Beach, Rangitoto Island and Auckland. There are some historical elements of the Naval Battery. If you decide to use the old bunkers and tunnels in your photos, it will add a beautiful image and a different color to photos that are usually green.
You can walk along the beach from Milford Reserve to Takapuna Beach. You will enjoy uninterrupted views of the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto.
The Milford-Takapuna Trail is best at low tide (check water levels when planning your hike) when the gravel is exposed and the trail is dry. Most of it is flat and easy, but the path is rocky, rocky and slippery.

Dog Walking Policy: Leashed dogs are allowed in Milford Beach year-round; During the summer, dogs are only allowed on Takapuna Beach between 5:00 p.m. m. and 10:00 a.m. m.
You can walk back or take a bus/uber back to your car. Maybe someone in your group can take the car while you wait with your dog.

It is a large forest with many different trails that you can walk. Dogs may be off-leash, but there are horse riders and dog walkers in the woods, so be very careful.

If your dog likes the pool, you will take home a brown dog. Remember that he can get muddy after a heavy rain.
It is a large open beach where dogs can run freely. To get to the beach you have to walk through the forest and when you get to the beach, the entire beach will become a dog beach. I recommend going here if you have time to wash your baby. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s a really beautiful beach and a happy place. My family had a lot of fun here!

The Mercer Bay Loop is a popular hiking destination, known for its beautiful beaches and shady spots. You’ll find epic spots where you can take photos that fit your dog’s camera roll.
Muriwai Regional Park has many trails that take you into the forest to walk and enjoy the beautiful views of the beach and the gannet colony. There are beautiful photographs of the beach and the background.
Your Guide To Dog-friendly Travels
Waikumete Cemetery is home to the largest cemetery in New Zealand. Walking the dog and taking pictures seems strange, but the surrounding park is a peaceful place with big trees. It’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and let the wind blow your hair. There are many places for you and your dog to explore. From some of them you can see the city landscape.
The Wintergardens have two Victorian-style glass houses that open onto the courtyard. Dogs can walk with you through the glass house while you gaze at the beautiful flowers or explore the tropical garden with rare specimens. If you have a large DSLR camera, the lens will be cloudy in the tropical glass house, but you can still use your phone to take good pictures.
The Fernery next door is a completely different, but lovely place. Instead of the color in the image, you’ll end up with a lot of green, some brown, and a lot of shadow.

Parnell Rose Park is also known as Pigeon Meyer Robinson Park. It has more than 5,000 roses that create a sea of color in summer and autumn. November is the most popular time.
Cornwall Park is located around New Zealand’s most famous volcanic cones. It is a large heritage estate with beautiful rows of ancient trees. As farm animals, dogs must be on a leash at all times.

August is the best time to see red magnolias bloom. You will find them next to the Cornwall Park Cafe. Find a map of the park here.
Onehunga Bay Reserve is a large open area with wide roads and bridges. An area where dogs can swim in the pool. Enjoy morning and evening walks around the harbor.
Gardeners will love exploring the beautiful botanical collection of this huge garden. If your dog needs to burn off some extra energy afterwards, Auckland Botanic Gardens has a dedicated dog kennel in the main area (north of the garden). Read about dog parks in Auckland here. A good place to eat. I personally like to see flowers, magnolias, colorful camellias and kowais. If you follow Auckland Botanic Gardens on Facebook you’ll get updates on what’s in bloom.
Spring is the best time to visit and see what the garden is like. The Valley of Spring Flowers always blooms at the end of September. Blooming and floral bulbs are a photographer’s dream! Autumn leaves also create a special atmosphere.
Claravale’s Top-dog Friendly Spots 
They have many gardens to enjoy. Their African Herb Garden, Magnolia Garden (best in August), Rose Garden (summer and fall), and Potter’s Nursery, to name a few of their favorites.
Enjoy a stroll through the fragrant lavender fields at the dog-friendly Waihi Lavender Farm in Waikato. Admission is free and dogs are allowed on leashes. There is a very nice restaurant with good food, but be sure to try the blueberry and lavender ice cream. If you love the scent of lavender, you’ll find something to purchase in their gift shop. Everything from lavender oil, facial products, handmade soaps, candles. The lavender farm is open from December to the end of January, but check their social media pages for details and special dates.
Be sure to get your tickets to the dog-friendly Blossfest at Cherry Tree Manor in Hamilton, England before they sell out. I’m going this year and can’t wait to see and take pictures! From September 23 to 24, from September 29 to October 1 and from October 7 to 8, 2023.
If you’ve ever seen dogs taking photos in sunflowers and wondered where that sun lives, visit the dog-friendly Taipiri Sunflower Farm near Hamilton between December and January. There is a small entrance fee.
