The Spit is one of the most popular dog beaches on the coast. With views of Surfers Paradise and what seems like endless miles of beach, you’ll find a great spot for you and your dog. If your dog is a sociable type and likes to have fun with other dogs, Saturday and Sunday mornings are the right time to visit Spit. You also have easy access to food, such as that offered at the Seaway Kiosk, where you can find dog-friendly burgers, chips and ice cream.

The Best Dog-friendly Beaches On The Gold Coast

For an alternative to the Spit Dog Beach, head to the opposite side of the Spit where dogs are allowed on the east side of the enclosed marine stadium. Dogs are allowed between Muriel Henchman Park and Doug Jennings Park on the north side.

Thanks to the protected waters of the stadium, it is much less scary for less confident and smaller dogs.

For calmer waters and a chance to spot a dolphin or two, head to Marine Parade, Biggera Waters.

The beach at Biggera Waters is now a dog beach at certain times of the day (5-8am and 4-7pm). The room is stocked with cleaning bags for your canine friend. A great place for a morning or evening walk.

You’ll also find parking at Charis Seafoods and the option to grab a quick coffee at Pelicano Espresso before heading to the beach.

Although this beach is a bit smaller than the others listed above, James Overell Park makes up for it with large green areas, making it the perfect place to let your dog run without getting too wet or sandy. Among Southport’s canals and skyscrapers, you’ll find a large rugby pitch, a sports pitch, a children’s playground and a small sandy beach. This is a popular evening and weekend spot for local families and pet parents to enjoy the view of Southport and Surfers Paradise while playing a game of footy and petting the dog.

There is plenty of parking on local streets, but you have to be quick! Parks are usually closed on weekends and free parking is limited to 2 hours.

Boat Harbor Park is located on the west side of Paradise Point and is fed by the Coomera River. A local neighborhood park with playgrounds, picnic areas and shelters, there is also a boat ramp to the dog play area at the end of the park.

This park has an area where dogs can run off-leash and play on the beach, but please note that dogs must be on a leash in all other areas and are not allowed on the playground.

If you are a local on the northern part of the Gold Coast, Paradise Point is your choice! You will find a dog-friendly area on the beach next to the grassy park. The floating area is perfect for dogs who prefer calmer waters and pet parents who are also looking for a safe, family-friendly area with a barbecue and children’s playground.

Tallebudgera Dog Beach is a popular spot for Southern Golden Retrievers located behind Burleigh Headland. Parents with pets can park at the Tallebudgera Surf Living Club or Tallebudgera Leisure Center and walk their pups until they hit the surf at North Palm Beach.

Most beaches are open for your dog to play and swim, but avoid marked areas, at least until dusk.

At Currumbin Creek Dog Beach, located at the southern end of Palm Beach near Palm Beach Parklands, your dogs are welcome to run and play in the large area that stretches forever on the north side of the mouth of Currumbin Creek. in South Palm Beach at Tower 13.

Not all areas of Currumbin Creek are dog friendly, so be sure to look for signs that tell you where you can and can’t let your dog roam free.

Grab a bite to eat at the Dune Cafe by the Palm Beach Parklands parking lot. While some outdoor restaurants are dog-friendly, it is advisable to design a dog-friendly area. Alternatively, head to Barefoot Barista about a mile north on the freeway, where the outdoor dining area is dog-friendly.
