Good Dog Vacation

Good Dog Vacation – Everyone is looking forward to the summer holidays, but now that it’s officially time to book that trip, it can also be a time of stress and anxiety for pet owners. A recent survey found that 37% of dog owners don’t go for walks because they don’t want to leave their fur babies behind. The thought of leaving your furry baby behind can be exciting and guilt-inducing, but owning a pet doesn’t mean you have to spend your life hunting instead of traveling.

While many choose to find dog-friendly hotels and plan their trips so that they can bring their dog, this isn’t always an option for some families. Goat babies with irritable behavior can appear due to sudden changes in position and long car rides. International travel makes it more difficult to bring a dog with you. That’s why the Pets a Go Go team have shared their top tips for your pet’s well-being on vacation, because you deserve a stress-free trip.

Have a plan to fix it. Before you book your trip, make sure that the babysitter you choose will be available during your absence. Once you’ve decided, invite this person over to your home before you leave to learn more about your dog’s daily behavior and build trust between your fur and the sitter. Seeing a familiar face when you’re not around helps dogs get used to you not being around. Write a list of your pet’s caregivers, including feeding schedules, health restrictions, and your veterinarian’s emergency phone number.

Invest in animal-friendly technology. Just because you’re out of the house doesn’t mean you can’t interact with your pet! There are now many options for indoor cameras designed for pet owners. Not only do these cameras allow you to see what your pet is doing, they also allow you to talk to them via speakerphone, and some even let you import contacts through the app!

Update your dog’s tags and microchip. If you live in an unfenced apartment or house, there is an unfortunate possibility that your pet will run free, especially if your dog is used to obeying your commands. It’s important to make sure your pup’s ID numbers are displayed on his collar and his microchips match so the good people know who your fur belongs to when they find them.

“Puppy proof” your home. Just as you make sure your home is safe for your dog, you should do the same for any dogs that are left alone for long periods of time or may be stressed by your separation. Chewing is a result of separation anxiety, so it is important to keep all dangerous things out of your child’s reach so that he does not risk his health and damage his belongings.

Consider boarding your dog. One of the surest ways to make sure your dog is safe while you’re away is to leave it with a pet sitter. This way, your dog will receive the constant attention of loving staff and the cooperation of other playful dogs. Some boarding houses even regularly post photos on social media so you can see how much fun your pooch is having!

Previous 5 top reasons why your dog’s company is so important next 5 dog-friendly summer activities We are going to Costa Rica this summer and want to take our dog. We will be there for two months so we need a return trip for our dog.

Thanks for the question! Bringing your dog to Costa Rica means meeting the animal import requirements that the country respects. You can find an overview of this information through the USDA here. As you can see, you will need a health certificate, a rabies certificate and your dog must be vaccinated against leptospirosis.

You’ll also need to book flights with pet-friendly airlines (we often use United to transport pets from the United States to Costa Rica) and make sure you have the right travel crate.

To return to the United States, you will need to review these immigration requirements and make sure you meet them. Most importantly, you will need to issue a pet health certificate within 10 days of travel to prove to the airline again that your dog is healthy and fit to fly.

If you are happy to deal with the time and expense of traveling with your dog (which is several hundred dollars when all the trips are added up) and you think your dog will handle the event without too much stress, it is possible to bring it.

However, when faced with a short trip, many pet owners choose to leave their pets at home with a trusted sitter rather than deal with the hassle of traveling abroad. In most cases, it is better for the dog to stay at home in a familiar environment than to spend hours on a plane.

You have no idea how happy I am to be linking up with Vacasa for my latest post. It’s summer, which means more vacations. I’ve already been to Korea and Maine, next up is New York. The only downside to all of this? I don’t see my fur baby every day. He’s in good hands but I’m very attached to him so it’s hard so I’m planning a dog holiday with him!

Few hotels allow pets, so I’m glad I found Vacasa. It’s a vacation rental company that offers more than 13,000 properties in 30 states and 16 countries, so suffice it to say, there’s plenty to choose from. I don’t currently have a stop between Savannah, GA and Kissimmee, FL, but since I’ve only been to Georgia once, I’m trying to learn the former. What do you think, elders?

Here are the three houses I looked at! I love that with Vacasa every home exceeds the highest standards, be it safety, cleanliness or comfort. Customer service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you’re always protected.

Aren’t they all gorgeous? If it were you, which one would you hire? Let me know by leaving a comment below. However, entry is really easy! Vacasa uses smart keys and locks, so all you have to do is walk straight to the door and you’ll feel right at home. Professional housekeepers make sure your rental is clean and tidy before you arrive, so you’ll have a starter kit with clean sheets and towels, as well as toiletries and paper products.

Daisy is not a fan of flying, so we drive everywhere. I don’t know who has more baggage, ha! He has diabetes so like a crazy mom I always pack extra stuff for him. This means extra insulin shots, meds and supplements, potty pads, small bowls, special sweet food along with the chicken and vegetable stew I make for her, diapers, toys, her harness and leash, doggy bag, doggy shampoo and towel . .

I usually pack his things alongside mine, but if you’re looking for a separate doggie bag, click the link above for a complete guide to help you find the right one for you and your pup’s needs.

I think a lot of dogs like to ride in the car, but Daisy really likes it. I don’t know what it is, but the big cat is scary! Here are some things I do to make our trips nice and fun:

This has nothing to do with driving per se, but it’s important because I wanted to share it. haha, get it – before you start breeding dogs, do your pet emergency first. God forbid something happens to your fur baby, but it never hurts to be prepared. I always make sure I have contact information for the nearest clinic in case of an emergency, and I encourage you to do the same.

On a lighter note, Vacasa sent me a box of summer travel gear and I wanted to show off my new gear. Here I bought: new baseball cap, passport + pen, reusable straw (!!!!!) and new water bottle, luggage.
