We only spent one night in Taupo on this trip and stayed again at the Ascot Motor Inn, where we always felt very comfortable. Stay true to our expectations. We had a studio room on the top floor with a view of the lake.
Both rooms are very nice and clean, with kitchen facilities and TV in the living room and master bedroom. The two bedroom unit has a small enclosed courtyard with a table and chairs for the good weather – it was a bit chilly to sit outside when we were there.

We had a room upstairs with a hot tub and a small view of the lake with hot water. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were also informed in advance by email of what was specifically available in the area
Cascades is close to Lake Street and within walking distance of Two Mile Bay Sailing Club, where we also ate pizza and listened to great musicians.
Friendly and helpful staff. The motel is right on the lake and we enjoyed the view and the walk. There is a great cafe and bar nearby
Dog Friendly Autumn Walks In Taupo
We were traveling with our dog so this was a great pet friendly motel. We tell people in advance that we will have dogs with us, and they can send a fence that contains clear rules for the stay of people with dogs. There is only a $20 surcharge to board your dog with us. Our dog sleeps in a crate anyway, so we were given the room that had a perfect kitchen.
The location of the motel is excellent, right on the shore of the lake, making it easy to take a walk in the evening and in the morning. The bed was comfortable, we slept very well and the room was very clean.
The owners/managers were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here again next time we pass through Taupo.

A path is visible from the lake and it takes less than 3 minutes of walking to reach the lake, next to the hot pool that flows to the lake. The motel has only a few residential units, which gives it a particularly nice atmosphere. And of course it is great
Taupo Motel Accommodation
We stayed here because it was the last night of a three week trip to New Zealand. What a perfect end to the holidays.
When we travel with dogs, there is a space at the back of the unit for a small cozy cover, easily accessible through the rear door in the unit.
We enjoyed our stay at this well located pet friendly motel. Di and Tony were great hosts and gave us directions to a great restaurant just 450 meters away! It can work, no 🙂
