All of our parks are dog friendly and have great facilities for dogs, including dog exercise areas for off-leash walks, water bowls, food, treats and toys for sale and even dog baths and dog menus (facilities vary by park ). Many attractions and places to eat and drink in the area also welcome dogs and at Highlands End Holiday Park, Martin’s Bar & Restaurant welcomes dogs in many areas of the site.

Dog-friendly Cottages Uk

Lyme Regis, known as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’ offers a number of beaches to choose from, as well as Cobb harbor walls, Langmoor Park and a high street with independent shops, many of which allow dogs and are dog friendly places to visit. Eat. This is a great place to walk the dog and enjoy the beautiful views.

Monmouth Beach to the west of Lyme Regis and Church Beach to the east welcome dogs all year round. Dogs are allowed between October and April at Front Beach. Lead restrictions apply at nearby Cart Road, Marine Parade and Sea Wall beaches.

The East Coast (Golden Cap river side) has no restrictions. The West Coast (Lyme Regis side of the river) only allows dogs between October and April, stretching to the bridge at the end of the walk. Additionally, towards Lyme Regis, dogs are allowed on leads all year round.

Eype is a beautiful, pristine, rocky beach just 500 meters walk from Highlands End Holiday Park. This secluded location is the ideal place to escape, relax and enjoy the views. As a lesser known beach, it is relatively quiet and makes for a lovely walk to the cliff top of Thorncombe Beacon, with views along the coast to Portland Bill.

West Bay is a charming fishing village centered around the harbour. The location of ITV crime drama Broadchurch, West Bay has become an increasingly popular destination in recent years and there is so much to see and do, it’s easy to spend a day exploring. There are plenty of dining and drinking options, and boating or fishing are great ways to see the coast from a different angle.

Dogs are allowed on the East Coast and West Beach between October and April. From the start of the cliffs, dogs are always welcome, but caution should be exercised when traveling far from the base of the cliffs. On permitted beaches, dogs may be kept on a leash, but must be supervised appropriately.

There are no formal restrictions at Burton Bradstock, but the National Trust asks that dogs are not exercised in the main area of ​​Hive Beach between May and September. Cogden Beach is a quiet part of Chesil Beach, popular with fishermen and dog lovers. Owned by the National Trust, there is a car park a few hundred meters up the hill on the Jurassic Coast Road. The shingle beach is flanked by farmland and reedbeds, making it a haven for birds and wildflowers.

West Bexington is another quieter part of Chesil Beach, secluded. In a small coastal village on the Jura Coastal Path there is a beach car park, clubhouse cafe and a nature reserve and site of special scientific interest behind the beach.

Abbotsbury is a pretty village on the Jurassic Coast Path, with great attractions including Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens, Abbotsbury Swannery and Abbotsbury Children’s Farm. This place is famous for its thatched cottages, teahouses and art galleries. There is a car park on the beach and you can explore this stretch of Chesil Beach and walk to St Catherine’s Chapel, on a hill overlooking Fleet Lagoon.

Abbotsbury Beach, where Fleet Pond begins, welcomes dogs all year round. From Fleet Pond to Portland, dogs are allowed on oceanfront beaches from September to April.

Weymouth is a traditional seaside resort, famous for its long stretches of golden sand. There are many shops, restaurants, entertainment and attractions around the town, including the Sea Life Centre, Sand World, Nothe Fort and the harbor and water sports.

Dogs are allowed on the main beach from November 1 to Good Friday and throughout the year in the designated dog exercise area at the beach end pavilion. Dogs are allowed at Bowleaze Cove all year round.

Church Open is a small, secluded cove and beach on the sheltered east side of Portland Island. With cliffs on 3 sides, the beach is well protected from the wind and is popular for swimming, fishing and snorkeling, as well as diving to the many shipwrecks in the surrounding waters. There are 2 trails and steps down to the beach and there is free parking a quarter mile away across from Pennsylvania Castle.

Osmington Beach is another hidden gem on the Jurassic Coast. An attractive village leads to the beach and the South West Coast Path, as well as Smuggler’s Inn. The beach is rugged and calm and is perfect for exploring rather than sunbathing, due to its rocky nature. When it rains, rock pools with sea urchins and starfish are visible.

Ringstead Bay is another quiet rocky beach overlooking Weymouth and the Isle of Portland. This is a favorite spot for families and visitors looking for a quieter, less crowded day at the beach. There are cafes and beach shops and it is one of the few places along the Jura Coast where the South West Coast Path runs along the beach itself. The beach is closer with all shingle and pebbles, and the water is very clear, so bring your snorkeling gear. Ringstead is just 8 km from Sandyholme Holiday Park.

Durdle Door is one of the most iconic places in all of England. This 10,000 year old limestone forest attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year and is a scenic hilly walk from the car park. It’s especially busy during the summer months, so we recommend visiting between September and May if possible. The water quality is very good and clear for swimming.

Lulworth Cove is a famous shell-shaped cove on the Jurassic Coast, next to the village of West Lulworth in Purbeck, just 7 miles from Sandyholme Holiday Park. It is a very popular destination, attracting up to half a million visitors annually. There is a large car park, several interesting shops, a pub and ice cream parlor as well as an educational visitor center and gift shop.

Worbarrow Bay is an attractive and peaceful place. Part of the Lulworth Ranges, it is only accessible at weekends and during school holidays and can be reached on foot from the car park in Tyneham village, which was evacuated during the Second World War and has remained deserted since. The path is flat and about 1 mile to the beach with beautiful views and inviting sea.

Kimmeridge is a beautiful rocky cove and one of the best places on the Jurassic Coast to look for fossils, marine life, rock collecting and snorkeling. This bay is naturally protected and has clear water. There are fine views across the bay from Clavell Tower to the east. The nearby Etches collection is invaluable
