Best Dog Getaways – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down on my calendar and plan my entire trip for the coming year. It’s so cold and dark outside that it feels incredibly satisfying to crank up your laptop and think up some adventures.

Although we’re holding back our major international trips during the pandemic, we’re keeping ourselves in the Seattle area, and we’ve identified all of the most amazing (and dog-friendly) dog-friendly weekend getaways! After living in NYC and Chicago for ten years, it’s fun to go back and discover old favorite getaways, as well as all the new glamping sites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. But most of all, I love seeing how many of them are dog-friendly options for your vacation. I am so much happier that we were able to bring Dave and Lizzie with us on our vacation.

I would love to plan a trip to this wonderful inn and event space near the picturesque Friday Harbor, which has several “dog friendly” kennels for friendly dogs. How incredible does that picture look? We also love hiking and the great views of San Juan Island. Each dog is listed under each cabin description here.

Bring your best friend to enjoy magical spells at one of our area’s favorite resorts. We have been organizing weekend getaways at Sagecliff since 2015 and it really never fails. Hiking, wine tasting and panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge make this a total private dream. Hence the decision of the puppy.

Captain Whidbey is at the top of my travel bucket list in 2022. With recent coverage in publications like Vogue, this beautifully restored historic site has popped up all over my Instagram feed and I love to capture the trip. Click through the booking system to see which rooms (like the Filson Cabin!) are labeled in a friendly way.

Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern downtown hotel for a while as it looked like the perfect base camp for a weekend in the snow or a weekend drink. Or both! A few pet-friendly rooms are available upon request. It is indicated here.

We’ve blogged before about how much we love tiny house Getaways, and we’re checking out the new Skagit Valley site. They are perfect for immersing yourself in nature while staying warm and dry. And how incredible is that bed window signature? Dogs are allowed for a fee.

Honestly, The Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with those riverside fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast motel is a bit of a drive from Seattle, its sleek modern interior and sweeping Pacific Ocean views make it well worth the trip. Dogs under 25 pounds are welcome in select rooms – more here.

My New Year’s resolution was to book a stay at the Dreamy Inn in St. Edward as soon as possible – this is easy to drive half an hour from the city. This historic seminary has been restored to a luxurious and luxurious retreat, found on 326 acres bordering Lake Washington. Or, unwind after a day of sightseeing with a trip to the spa or some Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. Details about the dogs can be found here.

We spent the perfect weekend at Vashon in January 2020 – and blogged about it here – and the memories took me back over the first few months. These 570 square meter transitional-style rooms offer amenities such as private balconies, fireplaces and sofa beds. Plus, they’re a perfect base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hikes. Nine of the sixteen motels are dog friendly, simply “pet fee” on the booking portal – see more here.

I’ve been dreaming of staying in one of these Insta-famous A-frames for so long, and I’m definitely going to make it happen this year. Tye River Cabin Co. offers three different stunning A-frame cabins in the heart of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie and all three receiving tickets for the fee. But a word to the wise – it can be hard to book as each of their gorgeous Insta posts gets thousands of likes. Pet information can be found under each cabin’s information.

We spent a beautiful Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019 and was looking forward to the opportunity to return to the beautiful views and remote beaches that Lizzie loved to explore. Not far from the Canadian border, this back-country campsite is the perfect base for great hikes and beautiful views of the North Washington coast. Dogs are very friendly and puppies are welcome with their own bowl, bed and (at least on our visit) a litter box. Details about the dogs can be found here.

Travel back in time by staying in one of these vintage trailers in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They are in Willamette Wine Country. The trailer comes with a coffee maker, a soft bed, and a soft bathrobe. Puppies are allowed in the Shasta Trailer and will be described here.

Anacortes is one of my favorite city getaways. An hour and a half north of Seattle, head to this city, a quaint seaside town full of charming shops, delicious cafes and sights to see. (Book Co. Watermark is one of my favorite bookstores in Washington!) And we love the excellent hotel, The Majestic, for its comfortable rooms and gorgeous rooftop terrace. Their detailed account can be found here.

I love a personal touch and Winthrop’s Rolling Maps certainly delivers. These tiny houses were designed by Seattle Architects Olson Kundig to be a more modern alternative to camping. Go hiking or just relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. Their Hotels.com listings pet policies are listed in the “Fees and Policies” section.

This luxury Hood Canal resort boasts that it’s been raising puppies since 1913, and with a menu full of Fido-friendly amenities, we can believe it. Make a memory by renting a kayak, hiking the trails, or just enjoying the view. From here read the dogs.

Well, it’s not technically available yet, but we’re signed up to receive notifications to reserve our spots the second these gorgeous RVs make their Olympic National Park debut. Creatures offer comforts beyond standard camping, providing a sensible and sustainable way to immerse yourself in nature. Two locations are expected to open soon in Washington and we look forward to booking them this summer. Their pet advice can be found in the FAQ section here.

I’m obsessed with the gorgeous new Water’s Edge Suites at the historic Orcas Island Inn, which have a private balcony overlooking the bay. I can see myself curled up there with a book. I think the only thing that could pull me off is the wonderful menu at La Moi’s on-site cafe. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in select, consistent and studious rooms – noted here.

If you follow us on Instagram, you know we can get quick trips to Seabrook every fall. Overlooking Washington’s Pacific coast, this beach town is truly everything I was looking for in a vacation — a charming town with a ready-made selection of shops and restaurants, a wide variety of rental properties, and pristine sandy beaches. Puppies are welcome at many rental properties.

With views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a blissful escape just a quick drive from downtown Seattle. Explore the shops and restaurants in downtown Kirkland, relax on the water or indulge at the spa. Order the Woof, Wag and Care Less package for your puppy’s special bowl, bed and treats. See more about their Fido tracks here.

If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on the trip to Maine that we just talked about here) and each trip was wonderful. Essentially, they set up luxury hunting tents on private lots like this beautiful orchard near Mead, Washington. You can also choose to pay a little extra to have one of their fruits delivered to your seat or have some of their farm fresh eggs for a delicious meal alfresco. Learn more about Tentrr’s puppy plans here.

Idaho is far from Seattle, but far from windy we made this view. More minute details like the sauna on site and the antique coffee grinder really melted my heart. Pets are allowed, although you can decide if this is a pleasant stay for you by deciding the steps.
