When planning your vacation, you want to make sure you’re going to a place that’s welcoming to the whole family, including pets.
Since not all places are welcoming to animals, this requires a little extra planning. Not only do you need to find dog-friendly accommodation, you also need to fill your trip with dog-friendly activities.

Tons of dog-friendly beaches border the Atlantic Ocean. Let me spill the tea and tell you that Rehoboth Beach on Delaware Bay is one of the most dog-friendly resorts on the East Coast.
If you’re in southern New Jersey, Rehoboth Beach is an easy trip because the Cape May Lewes Ferry takes you to this beautiful coastal town, and dogs ride for free!

If you visit before May 1st, dogs are allowed on the beach on a leash. During the summer months, there are some restrictions, but dogs can enjoy Dewey Beach before noon. 9:30 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m.

Located near several state parks, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities for you and your dog, including exploring the ponds, woods and marshes at Gordons Pond State Park. I also recommend walking along the Junction and Barrage Path, which was used as a railway line.
For a dog-friendly restaurant, try The Big Chill Surf Cantina. They have an outdoor patio where you and your adventure buddies can enjoy delicious American food from the Main Change food truck while listening to live music.
Recommended activity for dogs: 4-hour pontoon boat rental at Dewey Beach (they allow up to 3 dogs on board for a $35 per dog fee.)
Check out Bowman’s Beach, Lighthouse Park Beach, or Tarpon Bay Road Beach and let loose while relaxing on the sand. All are dog-friendly beaches with no time or date restrictions.
